So you actually acknowledge people will lie to circumvent rules...but think somehow they wouldn't lie about being vaccinated if they wanted to go out in public without a mask?

Has anyone else noticed the ones repeatedly (and tiresomely) banging the "Get the vaccine, and you can stop wearing a mask!" drum as the solution to vaccine hesitancy are the exact same ones who were against mitigation measures in the first place?

My opinion only...who cares if they lie to stop wearing a mask. Once EVERYONE has access and time to be fully vaccinated, those left have made the choice to build antibodies through contraction, and they will, just like the flu. You will eventually be exposed.. if not this year then somewhere down the road. Thats up to them but the vaccinated will be largely safe from severe issues. If they lie and get sick it's their choice. I decided that I had a better shot at surviving the vaccine.

If younger people haven't graduated college, I don't think their methods of getting reliable information are any better than the older generation. However, the younger generation going to college now, are probably the most advanced at finding reliable and sourceful information on the internet, which older people may not be able to find if they don't know about sites like jstor and how to change google to google scholarly and little stuff like that...

However, the older generation is better at reading physical books, so that's not to say they don't have their resources (and, again, it's typically the college graduates who know how to research correctly).

We can agree to disagree. I don't think the age you are talking about is better. They are trying to teach kids how to be better and discerning of facts, but that's newer from what I've seen among friends (40s here so range of kids we talk about) My 13yo is being taught in life skills and language arts. My friends kids in late HS to college were not.

Guess who is teaching these kids too? Adults. So that's why I don't think one is better than another. I've seen stupidity at all levels. Personalities have more to do with fact hunting than age. I've seen on this forum and across friends chatting how late HS kids to college are just as likely to believe drivel about vaccines as their parents ages. I don't feel I have the right to share personal stories but there are many out there who believe incorrect info and do not care to find right.

Don't forget the most important thing is to wear a mask because if everyone just wore a mask we would have been back to normal six months ago like Australia and New Zealand. Never mind the 87 differences between Australia and New Zealand and most of the rest of the world.

Even if you take all three vaccines in separate courses three months apart you should continue to wear a mask. In fact, you should wear three.

Defeating COVID is so simple.

And wear one alone sitting near absolutely no one, like The Queen of England.

Well, the flaw in your logic is the idiots that refuse to get vaccinated allow the virus to continually mutate, which makes vaccinations ineffective. Then we're back to where we were in March of 2020...

remember that the absolute youngest of Gen X is past 40 now....

and the dynamics of Discipline, spending and society roles is Vastly different if you’re younger than that.

I think anything you tell “young people” to do that isn’t fun or frivolous was likely to fail. We’re reaping what we have sown

Only thing we do want is to make sure our GenZ kids are nothing like those silly Millenials. We'd shoot them all if they turned out that way. Just too much work to deal with....

There are some who cannot take the vaccine or do not make antibodies. Those people I still care about. Your argument leaves them at risk.

but there is a stark contrast to outlook if you didn’t have the internet, on demand video, the ability to have a pony delivered to your door in less than 24 hours, 24 a day social media...you had to wait till Christmas for a toy

it’s not anyone’s “fault”...but the technology acceleration since around 1990 has really changed society in more ways than we are willing to admit.

im not saying I had it “hard”...I didn’t storm Utah beach...but my ability to instantly gratify myself was far less than those that Followed.

For their population and density, they seemed to have avoided the worst that places like the US/Brazil had, but it seems to be catching up now. On the semi-bright side, Brazil is at least seeing a slight downturn.

Others have already pointed out the risks inherent in having a large unvaccinated population, which is why it's important that people are actually vaccinated and not just claiming to be.

The person I was responding to suggested a "Get a vaccine and you can stop wearing masks" campaign as a way to reduce said vaccine hesitancy.

If people can just lie and get the same result, then that plan would be a pointless (and potentially dangerous) failure.
