They're called pew pews. You do know they actually use lasers in motion picture theaters now?

I would think these are reprogrammable. These lights should be networked to a lighting console. A lighting designer and a programmer will create multiple looks that can be changed with a couple of keystrokes. It should be simple. As much as I feel projection is totally overused, this is one case where I feel (since it's supposedly permanent) it could've definitely benefited from projection mapping.
For one, just the installation of these little dudes is ridiculously laborious.
And when one goes out does that ruin the effect all around it?
I for one am a Disney purist. I don't like them messing with things like the exterior of SSE. I know a lot of you have said you need to be really close to see them..not if you know they're there, then they become obvious quick. I don't want SSE looking like it's the New Years Eve ball. Keep it as is and project your light show on it.
And is this light effect programmable or once it's programmed that's it?
Just my opinion. Again, this is coming from a Disney purist for things like park icons.
And also, these are NOT "seamless".
If they can communicate with one another in a neural net, then the time will come when they fly off with SSE to establish their own robotic colony on the moon.I would think these are reprogrammable. Aka. Recent college graduate and junior programming intern. What could go wrong??I would think these are reprogrammable. These lights should be networked to a lighting console. Sad, but true.Aka. Recent college graduate and junior programming intern. What could go wrong??
right now the fact that there are trees in the center planter i find weird.... but i can live with it. The concern i have that i probably wont get over is the ugly, uneven trees at the base of SSE that replaced the palm trees in 1999. without the palm trees, the whole thing will always look incomplete to me. especially since there is 1 on the left side and 2 on the right side because we lost one Hurricane Irma in 2017 and it was never replaced.Honest question...does anyone else (who's visited the park) feel the entrance plaza is a bit of a let down? I don't know if it's because the trees are barren atm, but I just expected more "color" and warmth. I think a lot of this has to do with the transition from the red to tan-ish concrete they went to. I don't know.
Even if it's not new fan palms, just getting new trees of any variety in there would be nice. There's really nothing redeeming about the current ones and it is rather surprising they've been left in place considering how much the new entrance plaza is based on the original.right now the fact that there are trees in the center planter i find weird.... but i can live with it. I am sure purists will be triggered, but these aren’t THAT noticeable...EPCOT'S Spaceship Earth 'Beacon of Magic' light install begins for Disney World's 50th anniversary

To be fair these are up pretty high, the ones closer to guests will likely be a lot more noticeable. The biggest gripe I've seen anybody have with these is the claim that they're "seamless". They're not.I am sure purists will be triggered, but these aren’t THAT noticeable...
Up close they are obvious especially if viewed through a zoom lens. But from middle distances from what I can tell, it enhances the appearance. They are very well designed to blend in. And that is before we even see them illuminated. Very cool project. High hopes for what they will bring. To be fair these are up pretty high, the ones closer to guests will likely be a lot more noticeable. They used to. Called Lights of Winter...I wonder is maybe epcot should do its own version of the osborn xmas dancing lights. That would truly bring in extra people at xmas time.
I was wondering the same. I would think they would.I'mr really interested to see if these are going to cover every single location, particularly at the top and bottom.
