EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

I really can’t defend UOE, I have only grew up with the Ellen version. Bear in mind, it was never open since it always broke down.

Their were elements of the Ellen show I liked such as the Jeopardy parts, the big bang, dinosaur scene etc. For me though, the show was an AC nap. Guardians as I said before excites me.

I loved Ellen's, I rode it almost every time I was at the park. But I can admit it was far, far past it's time. By all means it should not have lasted long enough for me to ride it, especially for how bad of shape it was in at the end. I think I mourn the potential of the Energy space more than I do the actual show, but then again I can say that about literally every single Future World pavilion sans The Land and *maybe* Spaceship Earth.

I’d also like to add I typically do not like bigger coasters. To this day, I still refuse to experience RRC and Everest.

I am however, a huge marvel fan and as many here know a huge TRON fan. If any two rides will get me on the coaster it will be these two.

Same. I did all the original Epcot rides the first time I went (save for SSE, which was on V2) but the only thing I really remember in that format is Communicore; I only saw the original versions of the FW rides once and they’ve been overwhelmed in my head by the updates.

Some of them just don’t translate to YouTube without those memories. SSE I can enjoy the Cronkite ride through because enough of the ride is still there for me to have memories and for it to “bring me back”. UofE i can’t really appreciate that way. Which makes it hard fo me to appreciate the original UofE

Like Great Movie Ride, unfortunately, by the end, it was a very weak show and that means few guests miss it. I don’t gather there are that many of us left who remember the versions of each ride from 30 years ago. I wish they weren’t so obsessed with new projects replacing old ones rather than being actual additions. That’s the main reason why I’m actually happy they’re opening Ratatouille.

This past weekend I booted up a 360 video of GMR and put on my Oculus. I was just expecting to watch a couple of minutes of it and move on with my life, but I found myself sitting there for the whole ride and then watching a second POV with the gangster scene.

I'm not sure if it was covid or what, but I honestly found myself getting emotional and I'm not an emotional person.

If anyone's interesting, I found this individual's videos to be high quality for 360.


Unfortunately, the 360 videos were quite weak before the TCM narration, but the bones are still there.

I honestly was bored by some things in Epcot as a kid, but I do remember, in particular, loving Horizons and the original Imagination. My kids like the current Imagination because they don’t know any better. And it’s so ridiculous. If there is one thing Disney can and should be able to do well, it’s a ride entirely set in your imagination. I mean, come on!

They built 3 LPS rides when Imagination would have been the obvious location to put one. A ride into your imagination where everyone follows a different path?

I can’t be expected to do everything for them.

The only couple of classic EPCOT attractions I can remember are the entirety of Wonders of Life (which I really liked), and the Living Seas (which I don’t remember as well).

I also experienced Food Rocks which isn’t a classic but I remember it as well as the Living Seas meaning not much.

Agreed, both are great. Not sure if I would take GMR over MMRR but if both could of stayed that would of been great.

I really think Imagination will happen. It’s just a matter of when, most of my life I grew up with the current Imagination. As a kid, I’ll admit I really liked it, as I get older the obvious cracks show on what could be with Imagination.

EPCOT at least in my opinion, has never been great for kids. It actually isn’t great in terms of attractions for anyone. I definitely did not like WS as a kid while now I appreciate it, and enjoy that part of the park. That is why at least for me, I am ok with some of the changes being made to EPCOT. That is a different discussion for a different thread though.

I understand why Disney didn't make a ground-up construction for MMRR, but it should've just been moved to an expansion phase after SWGE. Covid would've had a hay-day, but it really was just a shortsighted move, which is a recent trend from Disney.

Not making MMRR a ground-up construction, in my view, takes the cake for shortsightedness. DHS needs more family rides and animation courtyard is disgusting.

That's the reason why I loved WoL. While the Land and Seas get close, WoL was perfect with how there were things to do everywhere and had a food location too. Seas doesn't have food but it has lots of things to see and do, Land has food but "only" three attractions that all require some kind of wait (not complaining about a 10 minute wait for a movie).

WoL just had stuff everywhere you looked...shows, movies, mini-exhibits, etc. It did age extremely poorly. Didn't help the company is very no sponsor=dead attraction.

Wonders was awesome, really liked it as a kid. Body Wars definitely did help though, but all the extras made it great.

I don't think Great Movie Ride was weak at the end of its life. It certainly wasn't as good as when it first opened, but it was still the second best ride at DHS behind Tower of Terror. It would be the third best ride at DHS right now if it was still open -- Rise is the only addition that surpasses it. Even the end of life version was light years better than what they built at Toy Story Land, and it was a significantly better ride than Smuggler's Run as well. MMRR looks fun but not quite at the level of GMR.

It was, but that was relatively easy to ignore. The ride was still full of great set pieces of movie history. It wasn't a Jungle Cruise situation where the narration is essentially the only reason anyone even rides.

To be fair, part of the reason that version would still be the third best attraction in DHS is that despite two supposedly major additions, DHS still has a serious lack of high quality rides. It definitely wouldn't be top three at the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. Probably not at EPCOT either.
