One Blood sent me a letter concerning my blood donation. The antibody test was “postive” and therefore I have been exposed to Coronavirus in the past.

Well.... maybe, maybe not. According to current CDC guidelines, people such as myself who have been vaccinated may show positive on some test. One blood will have to update their form letter now that people who both donate blood and are vaccinated exist.

Oh but it is good to know I have detectable antibodies 5 months out from vaccination ( Assuming that is the reason for my positive antibodies result)

I was actually thinking about this. I wonder what a second booster will feel like/ what the side effects will be. If more boosters become necessary will the side effects be something people will have to endure every three months or so? Will it impact people in the same way the second dose has been impacting many? I am looking forward to the results of the third shot trial that's happening right now.

Hope you are doing better! Different brand but my am did feel the sting and soreness much faster the 2nd time, but I did not feel worse. Hope the same for you!

So after seeing all of Biden’s comments last night on vaccine rollout I think Fauci’s odd comments yesterday make a little more sense. They are setting a political promise that we will have enough vaccine for every American by the end of July. This is not a lot different than the 100M shots in 100 days promise. It’s meant to be a low bar, conservative estimate and it makes sense to slow play it a little considering all the logistics that need to go right to hit manufacturer’s targets.

Separately Biden did confirm that we are on track to receive 400M doses by end of May and 600M doses by end of July. He did not include JnJ in those numbers, probably because it’s technically not approved yet. Assuming JnJ hits their target of 100M doses by June 30 we would have enough doses for 350M people by end of June (way more than needed) and between 230M and 250M people by the end of May depending on where JnJ is at the time. So while we won’t have enough doses for every American (330M people) in May there are going to be roughly 60M kids not eligible yet and ultimately some percent that won‘t take it.

Well the county has 100k residents over 65 years old. This pop up clinic isn't making much of a dent in that, so, some may say it's preferential, but it's certainly a county worth focusing on to get the over 65 population vaccinated.

This is really important. Now that there's concrete evidence that it reduces transmission, normal becomes much more achievable. I hope Chapek is looking at these results and should reconsider the whole "park passes till 2023 comments". Because his dream of wall to wall crowds becomes much more acceptable with less transmission

This has been done elsewhere in the state and it is only 65+ that are getting it at this time. Just so happens 65+ are more likely to vote for him but coincidence right?

It’s pretty good news for all of the workers who work in travel and tourism or restaurants. If the vaccine significantly reduces transmission then in theory more people can and will freely travel and eat out and go back to the bars once they are vaccinated. It’s a pretty big deal for the sectors of the economy that were the greatest impacted.

100MM, from what I read a couple weeks ago.

The US has options for more doses but they probably won’t negotiate a further purchase until after it’s formally approved for EUA. That’s what they did with Pfizer and Moderna. They had the initial 100M doses that were locked in and then they negotiated 2 additional purchases. I would imagine that shortly after approval they might exercise the option for 100M more doses in Q3. Even if we don’t need the doses better to be safe than sorry if something unthinkable happens to Pfizer or Moderna production we are still covered this summer. We can always resell the doses to Covax or other nations. There will be extremely high demand for JnJ being that it‘s one dose and not deep frozen. A really powerful tool for worldwide distribution.

Less transmission is also a big deal for families with kids under 12. If the vaccine prevented illness but didn’t prevent spread and your child wasn’t vaccinated it makes the decision to go to WDW a lot harder. If the vaccine reduces spread and most people 12+ have been vaccinated and cases are way down as a result it makes that decision much easier. I don’t know when wall to wall crowds will be a reality, but this helps with the progress towards relaxing some Covid restrictions. I still think masks are around for a while and distancing in queues and indoor restaurants probably too, but it could open the door for further reduction in distancing on ride vehicles as well as potentially having larger outdoor crowds for night shows or fireworks.

But the governor called a rich developer directly and essentially said "Hey, I've got some vaccine doses, can you help me decide who gets them?" It certainly opens the door for critics at the very least.

It opens the door for critics because everything is looked at through a political lens. Nobody gives the benefit of the doubt ever. I'm not just talking about criticism of Desantis in this instance. I will guarantee you that if/when Biden targets minority communities there will be people who criticize that as pandering to his base when it makes sense from a statistical standpoint.

In this case, Desantis (correctly, in my opinion) has made vaccinations of people 65 and over the priority. He was given data about two zip codes with a high percentage of people in that age group and the same zip codes have the age group vaccinated at about half the rate of the overall Florida 65+ population. If you (not "you" specifically) didn't know who gave him the information and didn't know the racial makeup and median income of the zip codes, you wouldn't see an issue.

If there are zip codes with similar 65+ population ratios and vaccination rates that also have a significantly higher share of minorities and low income people and those zip codes ask for similar accommodations and are denied, then criticism can be warranted. Purely based on targeting these two zip codes, I think should be given the benefit of the doubt.

If he had stayed out of it personally and not initiated the process by personally calling a rich developer, instead keeping politics out of it by letting state and local health officials decide, I would agree with you. There's no doubt there are a lot of seniors in the area, but let's face it, there are a lot of seniors all over the state. As one of the articles noted, the number of reported COVID cases in the two zip codes chosen are much lower than in neighboring, less affluent zip codes. So the governor's actions, even if the intentions were good, point to at best a lack of reasoned judgement, and at worst, blatant favoritism. As an elected official, why even open yourself up to that sort of criticism and scrutiny?
