I am sleepy. I was wondering how they measured antibodies without a blood draw. Not thinking they used other data. So excuse my stupidity - busy time of year for work and due to some happy time off for some and another injuring during a bike ride I'm not thinking straight.

To add to the prengancy. I was tested each time they had to give me a shot to make sure I was not pregnant. They were very much into making sure I was on birth control and had to contact asap if pregnant. As a 43 year old I laugh a little because pregnancy is the last thing I want and not sure how possible given peri-menopause. But still they had to ask and I had to pee in a cup a few times.
I feel like if we get through the next few months we shouldn’t need to vaccinate pregnant women. They can vaccinate before becoming pregnant and hopefully numbers go down significantly by spring. My baby is due in March, I look forward to being able to vaccinate then, but I can’t imagine any time 4 months or more into the future would be a scarier time to be pregnant as more and more people will be vaccinated.

A little off topic, but I assume Disney is the same, I was just at universal and in my opinion the parks are definitely not worth visiting at the moment, if it was my first time I wouldn’t want to come back. But just my opinion, also distancing is non existent unless you’re in a queue.

Look, there are risks with catching Covid. I would rather take the minuscule risk associated with a vaccine. I hope your grandma listens and gets vaccinated :)

I think dangling a carrot might have helped. I told her “if you get the vaccine, I’ll be able to take you out for lunch to a restaurant again!” (After the proper waiting period and contingent on local conditions, of course..)

Once Moderna is approved, does anyone know how distribution works between the 2??? Who gets what?

It will be interesting to see how this is handled. They both have similar efficacy and are based on the same technology, but Moderna has the advantage of not needing the ultra-cold storage that Pfizer's needs which will make is useful in places where that do not have the cold storage capability.

First time ever at Universal or just first time in Covid? If it’s first time ever, don’t judge the place by this experience. Give it another shot after the dust settles on Covid.

I was at Universal (and Disney for that matter) for the first time ever in November for two days and couldn’t have disagreed more. Albeit I wasn’t there during holiday crowds but I’d go back.

Numbers are out - there were 101 new reported deaths, along with 3 Non-Florida Resident deaths.

The numbers aren’t great but not terrible either compared to some places. The percent positive is holding, not at a great level, but not going way up either. Let’s hope this is just the peak of the Thanksgiving bump and doesn‘t keep rising.

Maybe they won't get a bump. Here in Illinois our positivity rate and hospitalizations are on a slow but steady decline across the state and they officially said we had no Thanksgiving surge.

Maybe Florida will trend the same?

I get so confused. One day we're getting berated for hiding in our basements and expecting everyone else to also stay locked up until cases/deaths go to zero... the next day, it's "rooting for deaths." I wish someone would make up their mind. Are we trying to prevent all the deaths or are we rooting for deaths? 🤔 :banghead::facepalm:
It’s illogical and I don’t agree with it, but I think the idea is “rooting for COVID deaths in order to justify extreme measures designed to prevent every last death.” Crazy as it sounds.

It’s possible. Maybe people listened to recommendations and didn’t get together. That wasn’t my impression from the handful of people I know who live in FL but that’s a very anecdotal group.

His "reason" was "an issue with Pfizer." Not exactly very detailed. He also said it is happening nationwide. Therefore, there is no evidence whatsoever that the MI and IL reductions are malicious.

If the Trump administration was going to be malicious, it would be towards AZ, GA, PA, WI and MI. IL wouldn't be on that list right now. Also, FL would be the last to have reductions or delays if it was an administration decision.
Pfizer is saying there is no issue with shipping or production, and that millions of doses are sitting in their warehouse ready to go upon request. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hopefully we won't need to but they are a total exclusion at this time. I'm not sure if they have a waiting period for getting pregnant after shot. I will have to look in my stacks. People who just got pregnant now have a long way to go to vaccinate though. But things like this are exactly why we need to vaccinate as many as possible.

It’s not off topic, actually right on topic. Thanks for the update!

A couple states over in Ohio, our cases still are increasing slightly, but hospitalizations are holding steady for the past 2 weeks. I hope things start declining soon.

Nationally, the CDc seems to show hospitalizations decreasing the past couple weeks, while the Covid tracking project shows them continuing to increase. As a tiebreaker, NYT agrees with the Covid tracking project.

Depends on where in the state too. Hospitalizations locally are down cases are stable. Still too high per capita as a whole.
