And often one of those bills is a large college loan. This is the biggest reason I've never told my kids they HAVE to attend college to be successful (as was assumed by/taught to my generation), only that they cannot stop learning after high school - trade school, internships, anything else. The amount of debt these students finish their degrees with is often staggering and disturbing.

I have a career that requires a degree at least an associates, but now they want a bachelors. It is much more skill based. On the job training experience, and critical thinking is everything. Nurses are starting their career 80k plus in debt most of which has nothing to do with the job. I just think there has to be a better way.

The deadliest hurricane of the modern era that primarily affected the US was Katrina with about 1,200 deaths (I'm excluding Maria because most of the deaths were not in the US).

3,055 people died of COVID-19 just yesterday.

Last I checked Puerto Rico is a part of the US. Almost the same number died in PR alone during the hurricane Maria as did from Covid in one day. Both should be seen as catastrophes

I don’t agree with that at all. An education has value apart from helping someone get a good job.

I don’t think getting a job is the only reason to become well-educated. My father in law had a college degree and made a great living running a business involving labor that did not require a college degree. He never considered his education a waste of time or effort. It was part of what made him the person he was.

I haven’t seen anyone assume otherwise. My mother needed to educate herself because she had to leave school and work to help her family - she didn’t even go to high school. Yet she was very well-read and could hold her own in just about any discussion - especially about politics.

I’m not sure why you think valuing a college education is wrong or some kind of snobbery. There are a lot of people who go to college and value the education they receive. People are different; one person's experiences don't necessarily lessen or cheapen someone else's.

I don't think valuing a college education is wrong, but if your going to go into debt for it it should be worth it.

You are good long as you were educated outside of a college campus...otherwise you are apparently a liberal snob

April fools day return to normal would be pretty darn good news . I have high hope for the JnJ vaccine still. It won’t come as soon as Pfizer and Moderna, but we should have some idea where that one stands in January. If the news is good it could be a game changer since it only requires 1 shot and no need for special freezers. For the US we have enough vaccine purchased from Moderna and Pfizer to vaccinate 100M people from our initial order so adding JnJ to the mix gets us up to 200M and we still have AstraZeneca results coming probably also in January and Novavax probably February. The more that work out, the better and if all the others fail we have options to buy more Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Probably will be after that to get to "normal". My guess given my estimated timelines below:
Pfizer EUA - Tomorrow or soon thereafter.
Moderna EUA - A week or two later
J&J EUA (Assuming good phase 3 of there 60000 subjects)- Feb

Pfizer Full Authorization - End of March or April
Moderna Full Authorization- April
J&J Full -June

Then add 4 to 5 weeks to vaccine 1st injection to max effectiveness.

Then decide do you wait for normal when herd immunity is empirically apparent or sooner?

So the first vaccine out with 20 million doses /month for USA is Pfizer. The FIRST wave general pop will not be past the two shot sequence before May. While first wave of EUA will be late Jan.

Moderna quantity is likely equivalent to Pfizer. J&J should be able to crank out greater quantity...but full use Authorization of them may be summer.
