I agree. In the case of the night parade it was more of a logistical approach to avoid overcrowding at MK. They wanted to spread the crowds. Remember that was also the timeframe when AK became a “full day park” with RoL and the night safari and added nightly entertainment.
In the case of Disney parks today, they could just not bring the stuff back and maybe people still come back anyway, but those elements help attract and retain customers and without them revenues will suffer. I don’t think post-pandemic is going to be a time where overwhelming crowds just return automatically. There’s going to be competition for those vacation dollars. If it turns out I’m wrong and those things never come back and the parks are as busy as ever then it really has little to do with Covid. They could have cut that stuff sooner.

I agree with this, but it was always the case before Covid and will be afterwards. I guess I just don’t see Covid as being a catalyst for change because the parks as they are operating today are not really relevant to how they will be going forward post-pandemic. I also know that WDW was a cash cow and made incredible profits for the company. Why risk making sweeping changes in your product when you know the mix you had worked great. Now if it’s 2022 and the crowds are still 75% of pre-Covid levels I could see a wave of belt tightening kicked off again. I guess the way I see it is the parks weren’t broken financially there’s no need to fix them. It makes smart business sense to ramp right back up to where you were before.

Hasn’t stopped them from eliminating all but 1 daily parade at each property. (Florida / California). Just a few years ago Florida had 4 daily parades and California had 3.

I said parades and night shows, but that just reinforces my point. There was no pandemic needed to make those cuts. I’m not sure why everyone is so hell bent on seeing WDW come back as some former shell of itself. There’s no practical reason for that to happen. Could it happen? Sure I suppose anything is possible.

Well I was speaking of the Docs that sell the pain pills to anyone who asks and for the cruiser who does not want to lose his non refundable $10K they spent on a cruise after the cruise line said there would be no vaccine requirement than changed the rules after they paid and after they have exhausted all legal means and was turned down because of age, race, medical history or zip code.
Well that was a stretch
. Anyway there is no worries Joey is gonna be in the White House and it will be all rainbows and unicorns

One of the two provinces I am working in is Alberta right now. The News media and public have been besides themselves with disapproval of the direction everything is going these days. It's definitely the most conservative government installed in Canada and the most US-like. Albeit to be fair to them what they have restricted would make some US states furious.
Every time I check numbers against the US though it still shocks me. It is practically end of days here and it feels like many US states are continuing like business as usual.

I'm so angry. I don't know how many times I've gone through the twelve stages of grief since February. I'm sure this is my fiftieth go-round. I guess I beat WDW's anniversary to the punch!

I would think so. We don't know how long immunity lasts in people who have been infected and there are cases of people getting it twice due to different strains.

2 weeks ago a friend of mine, with no pre existing conditions checked into the hospital because his cough wouldn't go away. It was determined he had Covid. 2 days later he was in the ICU.
Yesterday he died.
He was 27
Anytime people say it only effects old people and those with health issues... this is why that nonsense makes me angry. No one knows how or why yet, but everyone's reaction is different. I had another who just came out of the hospital He was lucky - sort of. He was in a coma in an ICU unit for 120 days, and has a long recovery ahead of him. and his hospital bill was $2 million. And counting. Also he was healthy, and older (47)
And finally, the actual hard data report is out.

How many people visit the parks each year because of parades and fireworks? How many people would not visit if they cut those things completely? If they cut them by 50%? 75%?
If they cut the parades by 90% and called them "cavalcades," would guests still come? Would guest satisfaction suffer? Guest spending?
Disney is ALWAYS asking these sorts of questions. COVID forcing them to close and then reopen with minimal offerings provides the company with a rare, guilt-free, no-risk, only-upside opportunity to test these things out.
Nobody is hell-bent on seeing Disney reduce things like live entertainment, parades, or fireworks. You think any of us want to see these cuts?
I hope I'm wrong, and that as soon as it's safe, Disney will actually hire back MORE CM's, musicians and actors. I hope they double down on fireworks and add hourly parades in all the parks. I love that stuff! I hope they add roaming driods and aliens to Galaxy's Edge. I hope they include free parking, free admission on your birthday, kids eat free dining, and rewards for loyalty and return visits.
But how likely is all this? And haven't we all been paying attention long enough to recognize the trend is going in a different direction?

If this is the route the leisure industry goes, yes, because we don't know how long natural immunity to SARS-CoV-2 lasts.
Nor do they know how long immunity lasts with the vaccines.
