Entitled Manchild/Horrible Father Harasses Cast Member

This video has been making the rounds on Facebook:

Summary: He approaches the entrance to the carousel at 8:01. Park closed at 8:00. The Cast Member says its closed. The man starts filming her, trying to intimidate her into letting him in. He argues that there are people in line that haven't ridden yet. She, doing exactly what she is supposed to do per the job, states that they have to cut the line at some point, and if she lets him in, she has to let everyone else in to be fair. He continues to berate her but walks away when they start contacting someone else to assist, possibly security.

99% of the comments are telling him he is 100% wrong, but he is instead going on this weird crusade against Cast Members. Oh, he also is an anti-masker who continually films himself ignoring the rules, taking his and his kids' masks off. I get it, "don't give stupid people attention", but also this man deserves to lose his job over this.

Do not be this guest. Do not act entitled and bully frontline employees for doing their job. Do not be trash.

Also, if you are a Cast Member, I would refrain from commenting on his stuff.

I don’t think I can take watching the video but umm... does he have kids with him? Of all the rides to argue with a CM about, the Carousel seems like an odd choice!

It does seem like they could fill the Q up... typically Disney uses some common sense with that type of thing, but in such a high traffic area it could become an issue I suppose.

Basically the only fair way to close the line is to do it right at park close. If they let this man in, then it would (and does) start a chain reaction.

It isn't just about the cast members wanting to go home on time, but their leadership wants them out at their scheduled time because they have labor budgets to abide by.

Oh yeah I get that. I’m pretty sure most of us have gotten in a cue a minute or 2 after park closing though right? I know I have.

(Not by arguing with a cm of course... that’s a sure way NOT to get what you want lol).

The guest was completely out of line to be sure. No excuse for that guest but the cast members could have handled it better. You don't tell a guest " don't I deserve to go home?" that is wrong because you are making the guest feel guilty for even going to the park in the first place. Your job is to run the ride, so you saying you don't want to be at work because no guests = no jobs. I didn't like that. Also the 2nd cast member had no right to yell at that guest. Let your boss or security do that. To be fair to the cast members we don't know how long he talked to them before he started filming so they made have started off nice and sweet then he irritated them to that point. but still, they need to keep their cool and be more professional. but the guest here is the idiot who started the whole thing.

Yeah, I get all that, but also don't bully frontline workers and try to make them/yourself go viral. I do not believe he deserved any degree of "good" service once he pulled out his phone and started filming as a bullying/intimidation tactic for not getting his way.

I agree. The guest is the idiot. You want your kid to ride one last time, then get in line on time. Fully agree. but the cast members I felt still should have kept their cool. Minor nitpick. Not an excuse for how this guy treated them. He was waay out of line.

Honestly let the guy ride. It’s a Carousel. It’s silly for both the guest and the cm’s to make such a fuss about it.

The last day of the steam trains a Cm tried to argue with a manager about letting us ride the last train from Main Street to fantasyland. The manager had to tell him like 3 times we could ride and to stop worrying about it.

If he hadn't been such a jack hole, I (in the moment as a CM trying to keep things from escalating) would have allowed them to ride and and any else who wanted to as long as there was enough carousel horses. If people were suddenly trying to ride, I would say that this was the last ride and would only take enough to fill the carousel. But the line look practically empty. However, that "guest" was totally asking for a personal escort to the exit. His kid didn't even look interested in riding. It might have been one thing if the kid was crying and the guy asked nicely if his son could ride along with the last group, but dude acted like it was his "right" to ride. 🙄 And totally agree that as frustrated as the CMs were, they should've just kept their cool and called security and/or supervisor. But at the end of the day, they're tired and don't want to put up with some jerk's mouth.

The problem is he got his answer and wouldn't let it go. I disagree with you. Lines need to get cut off at a certain time. If it was important to you, get there before close not after and don't go on about it after you got your answer and you clearly see the line is closed.

Yeah I agree with all of this.

I agree. But literally it wouldn’t have hurt one thing to let him ride.

It was silly of him to make a big deal about it. It was even sillier of the cm’s to fight back when they had room in the cue.

Meh, no end of world drama. The guy is a bit annoying about it all.

Maybe if he had been quiet and inconspicuous a CM could have slipped the boy in when nobody was looking....

At some point a line needs to be cut off. All good things must come to an end. Wouldn't it be better parenting to explain this to the kid? The boy would have gotten over it. Now an inconsequential small downer is turned into a traumatising event. Also, the father is shifting blame. The reason the boy didn't ride is because the dad couldn't find the entrance (=arrived too late to make the 45 second walk around the carousel!). The boy didn't not ride because of evil other women, as the dad is telling his kid. Take your own responsibility, grow up, the kid can learn dad isn't infallible. Sorry your daddy ego took a bruise. But you can't restore male ego with public meltdown against others, only in your own mind.
