Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Looking at all the plastic, dividers, floor signs, etc...everywhere in the ride queues, around the park, etc... I wonder how the purists, for which theming is above all else, will reconcile this. Thats out the window at this point. People were ready to revolt when it was said CMs could have beards and watches. Well now they are wearing masks and face shields, did they have face shields in the enchanted forest?

It's not a small part of the reason I really don't want to go back until the pandemic is largely abated - hopefully with a vaccine. Looking at the Jungle Cruise modifications - both the cast costumes and the dividers on the boats - breaks my immersive heart. I don't begrudge anyone wearing the gear... I expect it to keep cast and guests safe if they're dead set on being open. But it would destroy my main avenue of enjoyment - escape to a "real," immersive environment.

Like I said, an admirable job. That isn’t Disney World though, it’s like seeing MJ on the Wizards, sure it’s MJ, but not really.

It is what it is. There’s really no need for a pass. These are the measures needed to open the parks, they have no choice. Its not going to be the same as it was pre-Covid and anyone who thinks it will be is delusional. That doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable or worth doing for some people.

I don’t know what the numbers were limited to, but I heard all four preview days filled up within about 10-20 minutes (depending on the park) when signups opened at midnight.

Understood and I totally get your perspective. I think we all need to get use to seeing Disney like this for not only the short term but even longer term (in my mind through 2021). Its still an incredible place to be to get your mind off everything, even if its not what you and I are used to.

Thanks. Seems like a good sign that the cast members feel comfortable being part of an optional preview.

This makes no sense. The attention to detail and cleanliness will beat out Six Flags any way you look at it. With or without current measures in place.

Nope. Only DHS and MK went that quick. DAK and Epcot took until the next morning.

Oh yeah, that’s what it was. They were definitely all filled by 830am when my husband checked (which I was thankful for. I don’t wanna go wear a mask in this heat! ) His Facebook work group said they filled up before 6am, but I don’t know the exact times for DAK and EC.

I don't care about theming or attention to detail. If it makes it better I will say Cedar Fair instead of Six Flags. If I'm paying Disney money I want the Disney experience. If I want rides I want thrilling ones.

It's baffling that DeSantis is still worried about people visiting from NJ, NY, and CT but isn't scaling back his own state's reopening as cases surge to among the highest levels in the country.

I can't remember but when you purchase tickets/packages, don't you have to have your home address on file?

Theoretically, they could use your billing address but whether or not they will is another matter. If they did, then they should consider giving residents of those states extensions on their Annual Passes and Tables in Wonderland beyond what's already been done since they're saying you aren't allowed to visit even when they open.
