I'm not sure what you want me to say. Just agree with some mythical group of people that I've never met or heard of that want Splash Mountain, my favorite ride, changed? Gee that sounds like fun(ish), kinda, sorta, maybe not.

Some of my closest friends are black/Asian/gay/middle eastern, etc. It’s a qualifier I’ve never understood. Especially since it qualifies nothing.

You didn't answer my question. Nobody I have ever met in real life, both non-minorities and minorities have even hinted that Splash Mountain offended them. So what is you want me to do? Just agree with some mythical group of people that I've never met or heard of that it want it changed?

I don’t think you understand the issue here. And that’s, how did you put it? Sad. Remember when sad wasn’t a political buzzword?

Sorry but I'm not buying that one. Zip **** was sung to the melody of Turkey in the Straw which sounds nothing like Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah . Aside from the word Zip, that's about the only real similarity I see in them. I also don't think the Star Spangled Banner sounds like Santa Claus is Coming to Town simply because they both start with "Oh".

I mean, come on, it’s pretty obvious given the subject matter and the chorus that when they wrote a song for SOTS they referenced that chorus. Obviously it’s not a copy of it but you can see where the inspiration came from. It isn’t common to just use the word “zip” in a song, especially “zip-a-dee.”

You can live in denial all you want If it makes you feel better that a song you like was likely derived from a racist song.

As long as you don’t try to suggest that the petition to change it is more valuable.

I just signed the petition to keep it as is because that’s how little I think of Internet petitions. Go find 75,000 real signatures and maybe you’ll have a chance. Disney didn’t make this decision strictly under pressure from those who wanted the change methinks. They could have said nothing and done nothing and it would have blown over eventually. Just like the last 30 years.
