Listen I am not saying that Imagination doesn't need a make over. It is long overdue. But its not appropriate to accuse them of being cheap while they are spending billions. Maybe you don't like the was they are spending their money but that doesn't mean they are cheap.

A company can absolutely be "cheap" while spending a lot of money.

Think of minimal staffing, reduced operating hours, low quality toilet paper, not having park specific shopping bags or cups etc. All things Disney in the USA has been guilty of.

I'm not taking a side on this one, but it is possible to spend billions and still be cheap -- relatively speaking, of course. If a company really needed to spend 10 billion to fix everything correctly but choose to spend 5 billion and cut as many corners as possible, that's still a cheap decision (and no, I am not referring to Disney).

I'm not taking a side on this one, but it is possible to spend billions and still be cheap -- relatively speaking, of course. If a company really needed to spend 10 billion to fix everything correctly but choose to spend 5 billion and cut as many corners as possible, that's still a cheap decision (and no, I am not referring to Disney).

Which is why saying "they're spending a lot!" is kind of meaningless.

It doesn't explain the how and why the money is being spent, or justify the value of the purchase.

Ratatouille is Epcot's first new, built from scratch ride in 15 years. That's 15 years of stagnation that needs to be fixed, and yes, it's gonna cost more than the few billion Disney is currently spending to do so.

They’re stuck spending billions now because they spent years being cheap and trying to come up with schemes to avoid building. One recent action doesn’t undo over a decade of actions. They’re still cheap because there was no change of thought, they just ran out of ideas and are doing as little as possible.

I think that’s very much a stretch. The original plan was for the current attraction to go down around 2023 and come back up around 2025. Now, with that said, I think everyone, including myself, are jumping to conclusions during this current situation, and while it may be dire, a time jump from a 2025 completion to a 2030 completion to me at least, is a stretch. I highly doubt this project will be cancelled, since unlike an attraction such as grand fiesta tour, which is actually an enjoyable attraction and was rumored to be replaced with coco, this attraction will be on its last legs, with all of the future additions that will be present surrounding it, drawing large crowds away from imagination, causing it to possibly meet the same fate as wonders of life for a small period of time, where it’ll just become abandoned until they figure out what to do with it, due to the cost of running it being unnecessary.

Sure, but the longer it sits there the more it needs replacement. It needs replacement far more now than it did in 2002 just by virtue of age.

I don't actually expect them to do anything about it because I don't expect them to do anything at all parks wide. I just think it's more likely they'd do something with that pavilion (for better or worse) than decide to do even more new construction over the next several years.

It didn't have legs when it reopened in 2002. It's lucky to have a stub where it's leg used to be. It was bad on day one, it was terrible 5 years later, it's a disaster with a DVC lounge on the second floor 18 years later.
