Houses near MK

I've seen these in person. Well, anyone who knows where they are can drive up to the gate at least. They are creepy and unnerving and it doesn't look like anyone actually lives in them.

I'm sure they're actually used, but might be treated as a secondary home or something. I assume that the people assigned to them would be relatively high up on the corporate chain and well-paid, but the houses are a few steps above a trailer park. They do give off vibes of the Dharma village on the island in Lost.

I don't think so. If you get a view from the locked entrance gate, the homes looks like any old trailer home you can buy for $50k.

Oh the squalor these people must live in...

Seriously I would be all too happy to live on Walt Disney World property trailer home and all! I am betting I would eventually get over the firework noise as I am sure over time I would lose the interest in watching them every night but just think of the parties you could have that would inevitably end in a grand finale. Needless to say you and your home would be quite popular with your friends and family.

It's the same mentality of some cast members who work at WDW. It's probably not a rosy magical day for them all the time and it can show on their faces and attitudes.

I think a lot of people would say, "Oh, I would love to live at Disney!"
Then on the first night, "Isn't this magical?"
Second night, "What fun!"
1 week, "They shoot those big fireworks off every night, don't they?
2 weeks, "Wow. Disney sure does have a lot of visitors every day."
3 weeks, "I just want to run to the grocery store, but it takes an hour to get out of my neighborhood. I had a cold yesterday, but couldn't get any rest."
1 month, "%#&*@! fireworks! Hey! Get off my lawn. You can't park there! Go watch the show somewhere else! Who would want to actually live here?"

I suppose it depends on the person! I live in the foothills of the Rockies right next door to the United States Air Force Academy which draws lots of tourists, traffic due to the Sports and other events, as well as the constant hum to roar of Gliders, Jets and Planes flying over my house. Yes the noise can be obnoxious and road back ups are a pain but I wouldn't change it for the world as my neighborhood is certainly one of the most beautiful in Colorado.

Just a couple pictures of my view off my deck and one of my furry neighbors.

Great photos! Stunning place to call home, for sure!

I think it depends on the person, and the place frankly. In Chicago, Wrigley Field is a hot real estate area. Living right by the park is like living near a constant party. It's a beautiful area with a great strip of bars and restaurants, the beautiful ball park, etc. It was built in an urban neighborhood and has very little public parking available. I've known many people who thought it would be awesome to live near a hotbed of activity and party-like atmosphere. Most of them moved into their places during the baseball off-season. Fast forward to baseball season, and you have drunks after games urinating in alleys, constant noise, people illegally parking on residential streets anywhere within a 1-mile radius, and having to wait for tow trucks to show up to park your car in front of your building, etc. Traffic is a nightmare on game days. You get the point. Most of them rarely go to games anyway because they're annoyed by the nuisance.

I'd LOVE to live right near the MK for about the first 4 weeks. I think the accessibility to the park and night fireworks would be so cool, but sooner or later the constant grind of traffic, noise, etc. would really spoil it for me. For me, the same goes for living near Orlando, having annual passes, and going multiple times per year. It'd be so great for a while, but would eventually grow stale spoiling the magic for me. I haven't been for many years now except for a one day-visit while traveling for work which I don't count. The anticipation and excitement wouldn't be there as much if I went more than annually at most.
