Here’s the rates I’m getting from high school students for babysitting/help with school work from 8-5 or 9-6 on weekdays. (I would do whichever is more convenient for them)
$10 per hour
$12 per hour
$15 per hour

Am I wrong for being frustrated by this???
I understand that these are typical rates for babysitting, but in this scenario? And especially when the high school kids will be doing their own school work during that time as well????
If you lived nearby I would do it for free.

I hate to tell you, but $10 per hour is minimum wage in our state. It's not an unreasonable ask. My mom charges that for when she babysits, and yes, she does do other stuff while she babysits (she does it here). She's not lowering her rates for the virus.

I used to tutor in college. It can be very, very frustrating work, even with good students who want to work hard. I often came home with a headache. I earned every penny I made.

I'd maybe cut down the hours if you're not willing to pay the rates and negotiate down the rate. Or do a daily flat rate and offer pizza for lunch or something so that they don't have to worry about that.

Our library's web site just updated: library will be closed for a few weeks. (No access to my favorite, expensive financial and business publications, no books to browse, no videos to check out and take home.)

We're in the same boat. I have to thank my library for sending out an email and giving everybody at least Saturday to get and grab what they wanted. Hopefully by Easter everything will be normal and I can bring in a small bag of sugar free candy for the librarians. @MinnieM123 don't judge that's what they usually have behind the counter. James was with me and he grabbed a stack of movies and seeing it was just a bit later in the day they overrode the system and let him get a few over the limit. I could have used 2 cards but it's easier to keep everything straight on my card:joyfull:

I just wanted to say as a teacher, I have developed the talent not only to read words upside down but also to write upside down too. Sometimes when helping a student and standing in front of their paper and not wanting to turn it towards me so they can still see it has made this necessary. So does this ability make me double twisted?!🤪
It's a teacher and mom skill for sure;) and by mom I mean primary parent;)

Ours has an elibrary at least. Although one book I have on hold, the hold list was originally 18 people waiting when I jumped on.
Now...

I admit I stayed up cried while watching WDW closing last night. Official see ya real soon video expected to repost from Disney it got taken down but that sometimes happens and reposts later
I can't handle it. Every Disney park being closed and not knowing when they'll reopen just is too much for me emotionally to handle. Maybe it's a tad frivolous given the overall severity of this situation, but when Disney closes, it feels like life has stopped. I'm trying not to be dramatic here, but that's what it feels like.

Besides, I really can't cry, so I'll just get a massive headache instead. And I don't care to have one.

I purposely put it off so I wouldn’t and now it’s not up 😩

Disney was always the happy place. The world could suck outside, but the Disney bubble was just that, a shelter from the crazy world. Now that is gone indefinitely. Ds said he read rumors that Epcot may be closed for months?

Well, those are just rumors. I read this morning that the international CMs from Epcot are all still here since they're here for a year, only international CPs have to go home, and if they're having problems, Disney's helping on a case by case basis.

I just hope Disneyland opens by June when I'm supposed to go. If not...I'm not sure what I'll do. Maybe go to Hawaii again if Aulani is open and go to Disneyland next year? Or go visit my aunt in South Carolina? I have no idea. This entire situation is so messed up.

Yeah. Plus, I don't know, but even if I'm not at a Disney Park, it always made me happy to know that there were people who were and who were enjoying it. And now there's not. And it's just incredibly sad.

I did look, and Aulani and Hilton Head are both open for the time being. That makes me happy.
