The Ohio Governor was very clear today that this is not a “break”. Students will continue to learn during this time period.. teachers/schools/districts are working to each develop a plan that works best for them.

I don’t know if all states are saying the same.. I haven’t checked.

That is going to be rough to enforce and comply though a great goal. Our Universities are going towards that especially the ones that have established on courses. Most have partnered with Coursera.

It is going to be difficult to get sick teacher or sick students on track. Staff likely to take time to care for of their children if daycares close or their children’s school
Close.

It is a very fluid time now until we see the final passed version of the Family First policy.

I haven’t read all of our governor’s statement to be honest. I’m trying to enjoy the last part of my trip. 😎. Actually, this whole thing of WDW shutting down makes it easier to leave tomorrow because I know I can’t be in the parks anyway!

Enjoy!!!! I’m glad you were there this week and not planned for next!

The Archdiocese did. Closed all Catholic schools too.

Me just guessing only the board of health could shut down religious buildings.

Wow. We still have mass offered, but people are excused thru the end of the month, and there are modifications to the mass. It could come to fully cancelled here too though.

For example- many of the high schools here will have skype classes where everyone must check in, and they’ll have other online work in conjunction with written work.
My kid’s teachers have set hours where they will be available to talk to the kids or parents, they will also have online work and written work/projects assigned to them.
Every day will have the lessons on line and what work needs to be done.

The tough part for the elementary kids is going to be the time.. if parents are working.. it’s a lot more work at home now. That’s what worries me for the general population.. it’s not going to be easy logistically.

And if the teachers start taking leave? Does every student have their own district computers in Ohio? What if they get corona? For younger students they are likely not left at home. Will child care providers be able to accommodate? I'd fear these students will be all over the place as far as academics mastered with home schooled kids on the fly. Most home schooled children I've seen have very set curriculum and usually a parent is there to assist. What happens to the students with special needs and aides?

The "run" on bottled water is in my area as well. We don't need it at home but all three of us take it to work and or school to drink during lunch. I'm gonna be at the front door of Costco tomorrow when they open. Gonna see if I can buy ONE case of bottled water.
Probably many panicky people recently bought multiple cases. Someone my wife knows yesterday posted a photo of our Costco at 5pm. The shelves were totally empty where the bottled water normally is. This morning I went to Shop Rite at 7am so I could buy ONE loaf of bread.

Me I don't panic. I think and act accordingly. Everything I have purchased we normally purchase and will be used. I have more meats then I generally have on hand in freezer. I have frozen raw bread in the freezer. I have 2 rubbermaid containers of various premixed pastas and regular pasta. Canned Tuna and Chicken and veggies. Rice and Potatoes. My cabinets are now full. I have 2 containers of Fairlife Milk that has an extremely long shelf life. I have 2 extra bags of both sugar and flour. I bought wine and Truly. I have 2 cases of bottled water and I have 5, five gallon jugs of water cooler bottles. Likely the most important purchase as I live in a 100+ year old building with likely lead pipe lead ins. Plus meds and Gatorade along with pedilite. I followed the outlines provided by the CDC be prepared suggestions.

Me I spent likely $1000 over the last 2 weeks with planned purchases beyond what I also bought for the normal week. The best gift to my family would be that I didn't have to pre-buy the larger volume of food and goods in advance of what I would have normally done so.

Who I feel badly for is every person who does not have the financial means to plan for things like health outbreaks and hurricanes.

Note: Costco has closed due to virus in Utah

At Wegman’s yesterday shelves were empty of so many things, canned goods, pasta, bottled water, frozen fruit. The organic grocery section was wiped out, literally. No potatoes, onions, broccoli, cauliflower. Was there last Friday and everything was full. Good luck this morning.

How much would you have to spend before you think it might be panic buying? ;) I know that I am just taking care of myself, but that is 4 months worth of regular shopping for me. As for myself I bought a package of six rolls of TP. So I currently have 5 rolls horded away in my old apartment and 6 in my new one. So if I get quarantined I will be covered no matter what location I am located at the time.

EDIT: I'm down to 4 rolls at the old place now. I can feel the panic starting to rise up in my brain.

A district near us is having teachers report. I hope we do too, so that we do not have to extend the school year.

I hope your trip is ok.
Wait... I guess I am confused. I thought that the minimum required school days was so that the students had enough education to be called satisfactory. If only the teachers show up at the school how does that benefit the kids overall education? It does benefit the teachers, which is a good thing, but I never really thought that schools existed just to benefit teachers.

At home we drink water in our cups...filtered water from the refrigerator. Have a good weekend.
I think she was suggesting you have refillable bottles to take to work/school instead of buying the already bottled water. Then if the store doesn't have bottled water, you still have bottles to take with you. You can certainly fill them with the filtered water and then what's the difference between that and bottled water?
