Hugs to her

my DD works for a Fortune 100 company. She was going to be a recruiters University of Illinois Career Fair for Engineers and scientists next week. Cancelled. She was to fly in April for a convention in Pittsburgh. Cancelled. Today all air travel is Cancelled

on Monday they ordered 3 monitors and a docking station for her laptop. Plus keyboards and mouses all to be delivered to her apartment. They have been warned they could be working from home indefinitely. With purchasing all this equipment for everyone it appears it is likely more than a ‘could’ be.

think they need to upgrade her to a larger apartment in Florida and allows dogs

I think I might have to make some blueberry pie for Saturday for E. She's had a very rough week and her school trip to London/Oxford was canceled today. She is crushed. The 2nd years in the dual immersion program go every year, so she's been looking forward to it for over 2 years. They kept asking their teachers if the trip was going through with the Coronavirus stuff. The teachers have been saying for weeks that as long as there's no negative travel advisory, the trip will go through. And there's no negative advisory for England. This morning they were working on one of their assignments, to interview their host family. This afternoon they were told the trip was canceled. If they would have even told the kids there was a possibility so they could prepare, it would be one thing, but to keep saying it will only be canceled if there's an advisory, and then cancel it just days before the trip...low blow.
And they also said that they can't figure out any dates to reschedule, and because there's no negative advisory, the school's travel insurance won't cover the cancellation, so we're just out the money and the kids don't get to go. We'll be complaining about that. We didn't get to choose whether or not they cancelled and the school made that decision, so the school should be footing the bill.

But E was sick yesterday, and got a low grade on her last math test. Her average for Math was 98% before the test. She thought she knew the material and everything went well, but she somehow got a 65% and is crushed that her average is now a 90% and she can't bring that back up. And because she was sick, she missed getting the test back to look over it and figure out what went wrong.
Then she was supposed to have a project for her religion class. They visited a church and learned all about vestment colors and such, and they could work with a partner. So she and a friend paired up, the friend took pictures and E took notes. She asks the girl when she wants to get together to work on the project, and the girl says she wants to do it by herself instead. E is hurt and confused, but her religion class this week was cancelled, so she at least has more time to work on it.

But she's been asking for blueberry pie for weeks...maybe that will lessen the sting of disappointment.
Awww, poor kid. School should totally refund the money!

In other news, mom pulled a muscle.. and I HATE that despite her age ( 70 ) and almost falling out of the pain, she's trying to minimize the whole thing and tried to convince me to do not call our doctor (who as always been a lifesaver and long time family friend).

Worse, after chunking the pain pills, she is doing stuff she shouldn't because "it doesn't hurt". WELL OF COURSE IT DOESN'T. YOU TOOK A MONSTROUS ANTI PAIN PILL!

Our family is filled with stubborn ppl.

Yeah, I don't understand the water thing. It comes out of the tap just fine!

Not directly related to anything here, but someone told me the other day about water that flows into homes and businesses, and the power needed to run it. Generally speaking (and only In an emergency situation such as if the power grid went down), eventually the water would stop flowing. And you also may not know when it would be safe to drink, even if it started up again.

Anyone watched the recent season of The Bachelor? I saw a lot of it. Last night's finale was one of the craziest shows I've ever seen. :p (@ajrwdwgirl , I know you've watched it in the past, and since you're on vacation now, you missed it. But when you get home, you might want to pull up that episode -- it's CLASSIC.) :hilarious:

I understand the stubborn part.

My mom tried to talk my dad into renting a scooter 2 years ago for WDW, but he refused. My dad before going to WDW 2 years ago had knees in very bad shape. What happened was my dad used his knees a lot through the years including work. My dad did a lot of climbing in the electrical field and the use with his knees at home also.

His stubbornness caused him not to use all 10 WDW days because of how his knees were and my mom was with my dad with her missing theme parks days also due to him.

My dad wanted to use his cane instead. He was not able to last even a day at the WDW theme parks with a cane even taking hotel breaks, but he still refused to get a Scooter. My dad knew about the amount miles at WDW since he went there many times before 2018 including 2017.

My dad decided to rent a scooter for final 3 days of the WDW trip of an entire 2 week WDW trip after he admitted that he made a mistake by being stubborn.

You should have seen me when my toe was broken. I showed up for a regular visit and left with a boot. They didn't believe me when I said I was fine. It's a mom thing;) I miss when my doc was next door to the orthopedist, X ray right away

I definitely blame the media. I mean, 3 people in Maryland have this, and everyone is panicking. Meanwhile, 40 people died of the flu this year and no one is talking about it. It takes this for people to wash their hands? What were they doing before?

I'm more worried about people's reactions and the economic consequences then this virus.
I agree, but at the same time I question the location of some of the trips the game shows have unless it is due to how far back those taping happen. Italy's problems with the Coronavirus started on January 31 and I would figure the tapings on game shows by now were first taped around that time period or a bit later.

Tonight, Wheel of Fortune had a Italy trip on the Wheel that a contest could land on. The catch is Wheel of Fortune had Italy as a prize multiple times after it was announced Italy has a coronavirus problem.

I found out from my parents that one of contestants on lets make a deal seemed to be in horror for estimating the cost of three trips with them being Nashville, Northern Italy, and Singapore. I was told the contestant was not excited about northern Italy and seemed to regret turning down the chance to guess the price of a new car with a years supply of steak.
