I didn't think I'd ever get back to Disney again. However, we are getting a small tax refund. As soon as that hits the bank, I am going to call my travel agent, and have her book my trip. I like letting her make the phone call to Disney. I hate waiting on the phone. She's knows the ropes a whole lot better than me. I spent the last few days researching travel date, airline flights, and hotel rooms.

It came with a 4 foot gas hose/View attachment 452875[line but the installers said a 5 foot gas line is needed. They used the one from my old Kenmore dryer and said it would work. It doesn't.

I’m confused, waaaaayyy behind here as per usual , and am sure this has been resolved by now...
If the gas line is connected securely from the wall end to the dryer end, and the gas is turned on at the wall, the burner should be lighting (even if there was a small gas leak, which you would most likely know about). A 1-foot longer line being needed makes no sense. The new dryer was either somehow defective or the people that installed it just simply forgot to turn the gas back on...? :cyclops:

PS: Although our range, water heater, and furnace are gas, our dryer is electric, thus simply needing to just be plugged into the outlet.

I recently had two funny/similar incidents with major appliance repair. The electricity went out on my stove, and I called Sears. The man was so nice as he calmly told me the plug was loose in the electric socket. Not making the connection. He pushed it back in, and problem solved. He did not even charge me the $89 fee that is standard for items not under warranty. Then just the other day, the same thing happened with my refrigerator light. This time I noticed it when I was about to unplug it in order to change the bulb. I can only figure with all the construction around my house, it must be shaking my house big time.

Yes, that is the same in my church, too. But they remind people of this every year, during the flu season up here. So, this is nothing new to us.

Oh, I was watching a brief news clip with Dr. Oz yesterday. He was (semi-joking) that the safest thing to do was an elbow bump! :joyfull: (He said even a fist bump would create some contact, so he didn't recommend that.)

At 10:45a mass on Sunday, we all did, mostly, as per usual...we held hands during the Our Father, and shook hands for “Peace be with you”, but, there were no communal wine chalices (no wine at all...sorry, Figgy...!!!!! :D:hilarious:;)). Then, during the announcements at the end of mass, before the final song, Father said it was probably a good idea that we didn’t do the aforementioned hand holding and shaking until things calmed down.
I actually had to chuckle...the not hand holding and shaking makes sense, for now, but, shouldn’t that announcement have happened BEFORE mass...?!?!?! :cyclops:
Also, wouldn’t the alcohol in the wine kill the germs on the chalice...?!?!?! :cyclops:
IMHO, they did it bassackwards...!!!!! :hilarious:;)
Your post brought back memories of water fountains and drinking water from the garden hose, hand sanitizers were unknown in my youth, my mom would say wash your hands (ivory soap). Bottled water unheard of. How on earth did we survive our germ ridden youth to produce germaphobe offspring(Joking)

I’ve posted this many times before...!!!!!!! :joyfull:;):)

I'd rather be celebrating my mom's birthday with her, but at least I can toast her View attachment 453762
I understand that.

My mom does not do toasts to her mom's birthday, but she puts it on the calendar. She does it as way for remembering her and she loves her to this day. I was told my mom was very close to her mom and her dad. It sounded like she has a wonderful parent towards all her kids. She taught her kids right from wrong, taught them stuff including cooking and bake, and other stuff.

Her mom died of a heart a heart attack just over a year my parents got married. If my grandma lived, she would've reached a very special milestone in terms of birthdays.

@Rista1313 should definitely take a bow. She asked a SMART question. You can see her question just above. As some of you may recall, I responded that I was not qualified to answer. Later in the thread I pointed out that I knew how to turn the gas off for the entire house(implied was that I did not how to turn the gas off for just the laundry room.)
Sure enough, yesterday's installers turned off the gas....hooked up the new dryer...made it run....fooled me into thinking all was well.....but yesterday's knuckleheads never turned the gas back to the on position.
So now the dryer works fine.
I have been taught how to do the laundry room gas on / off myself if it is ever needed. Not hard!
I can return the 5 foot gas line kit back to Home Depot for a refund.
What an unnecessary waste of time the last 24 hours have been! :(

Hahaaa...!!!!! :hilarious:
Yep, they were usin’ the “It needs a longer hose” as a CYA excuse to try and save themselves from the embarrassment of not thinkin’ to turn the gas valve back on before they left, and thinkin’ you’d fall for it. Probably works on some...Lame-O-Rama...classic morons...and it took 2 of ‘em to not do it right...thankfully, they didn’t send 4 or 5...!!!!! :hilarious:

I can hear the convo now...
Idiot A: “Hey, did you remember to turn the gas valve back on?”
Idiot B: “For sure, dude!”
Idiot A: “Cool, let’s go get some pizza and beers!!!”

:hilarious::cautious::hilarious:

It is all just indicative of the way this country is now. People are not trained properly because it cost to much money, plus it apparently isn't necessary when you can make up things as one goes along. All of the hinges on having people that don't know any better.

I've been having trouble with my windshield wipers on my car. They don't clear off the windshield properly and just shudder across the windshield in the rain. The harder it rains the worse it gets. On top of being dangerous because my vision is compromised, the noise that it makes can drive a person insane. Frankly it is a short trip for me these days, but I have owned enough vehicles and worked on enough vehicles to know that is not what is supposed to be happening. I've had the car for a year and got it new. It has done this since shortly after I got it.

I have taken it back three times now and this is what I get for a response. "That is the way the wipers are designed. They are low profile wipers and there is nothing we can do about it. We can replace the blades, but they are all the same. You can buy after market ones (not cheap) but that would be at your expense." I told them that I was going to do exactly that and since apparently VW doesn't stand by its product and allows a safety issue to continue, they will have sold me that last VW I will ever get. I also told them that I hoped that the cost of those blades were worth the loss of a sale and that I was going to tell everyone I know, in person or social media, that same thing. I hate being told that something I know is wrong is "the way it is supposed to be" I commented that they should find the engineer that designed those things and the agent that made the decision to use them and fire them both.

I almost never do that with anyone, but I hate being treated like a fool and lied too. Their only other recommendation other then getting new ones at my expense was that I should use windex and a rag and clean the blades off once a week to get rid of the built up oils and dirt. Who the hell wants to have to do that every week to fix something that shouldn't be happening to begin with. Besides I have tried that and it doesn't work at all. OK, rant done!

Our society no longer takes responsibility for anything and has absolutely no problem lying to your face about it. How did we get here?

Does anyone have a suggestion for a tablet? I am thinking of trading in my old iPad for something new. I always took the iPad on vacation with me. I have had the old one a long time, but not used it in years.

I have a Kindle but it's running slow. I've had mine for a while. It's good but I don't use it for anything but reading eventhough I have a Fire. My only complaint would be there is no organization of books though maybe it has changed. My mom has a Samsung. Just got it for Christmas so no reviews yet though she seems to like it.

I'm still in shock that they wouldn't give you an epidural...like wth???? Did men make up that rule? If so, put them through simulated birth and see how long that rule would take to change. Good grief.

I mean, I'm not particularly happy that I'm paying off medical bills (at least they don't impact my credit) but I can't complain at all about the healthcare here. In fact, one of the main reasons I still live in Maryland is because the quality of healthcare, especially for endocrinology, is some of the best in the world. And the reason why we found the problem we did last year was because we have a system where we can self advocate here. I insisted and insisted and insisted until someone believed me. And oh my God, it could have been so much worse, and that just freaks me out to think about. Ugh.

Anyway, enough of all of that. Where did we land on Honda's again, other than that everything the Ferret says about them is wrong?
The attitude over here in regards to medicine is that the body should always be given the chance to work naturally. They don't give antibiotics for most infections, they don't do heavy pain killers...you have surgery, you get tylenol. You get a sinus infection, you tough it out. The exceptions are people with compromised immune systems, like someone with low-functioning kidneys. But epidurals are a pain medication that numbs you to the stimulant, and in childbirth, you need to respond to that stimulant, so unless there's a medical necessity, like you are going to have a c-section, or in the case of me with my daughter that they were worried I was getting worn out, they won't give you anything. They want the body to do its job without the aid of something else if possible. And to a certain extent, I understand that, but as you pointed out, a lot of these rules are designed by men who have never experienced childbirth themselves and underestimate the level of pain. And as you can't feel that pain yourself, you can't really judge whether the woman needs the pain meds or not. A woman knows her limits and how much pain she's in...I felt so bad for my friend Mojgan because she kept asking for something and they told her that her pain wasn't that bad. Like....how do you know?? You aren't feeling what she's feeling. If I punch you in the face and break your nose, is it fair for me to say "Oh, it didn't hurt THAT bad!"? It's kind of antiquated, really....they don't want to use the technology/medicine available because the body is designed to function on its own, but hello, that's why the life expectancy used to be lower. These things were created to make it easier and to bridge the gaps where the body lacks ability to take care of itself. Why wait and make a person suffer before you finally give in and go "Yeah, I guess you were right....it's not going to fix itself this time."?

Proof to the saying "they don't make things like they used to" My son's boss was asked by a friend if he wanted anything out of 2 old houses (probably from the 30's maybe earlier). The houses were on property donated to the Nature Conservancy and were being torn down. They were working in NC over the weekend and went by where the houses were and loaded up a trailer with lumber old sinks and a 1951 International Harvester refrigerator that had fallen through the rotted floor and was on the ground (upright). They got back yesterday and plugged it in guess what--- It works --other than dirty on the inside and rusty outside (could be painted) the freezer is working and and the inside is cold as the new one I have in my house. A 69 year old refrigerator that who knows when it was last running I'm just amazed and they can't make one now that lasts 10 years -----That's progress Ha Ha--- Might add one of the houses is a Sears and Roebuck house -- Sears used to sell kit houses. Just one example of many styles sold View attachment 453714
They did an article about these sears houses not to long ago on our local news, we have a lot of these homes in our city apparently. Back when people worked hard and put their own houses together!

That's so sweet of her. My mom is fine we just couldn't get together yesterday
