You don't know WDI all that well.

They will be custom made 22.15" LCD's that will only be able to display a unique 1019x421 resolution that connect using a proprietary video cable designed by Carl Stahl Sava Industries.

Cost per unit $7874.36. ;)
And don't forget when it breaks, they cover it with paper, and give the room a "complimentary" box of crayons with instructions for the kids to color their own space scene. And then they brag about how immersive and interactive it is.

Looks amazing, but that's a LOT of tech to keep working, and we've seen how difficult for Disney to keep up with maintenance.
I'm wondering if they will be able to keep it full, or full enough. Not sure it would be something I'd enjoy, but I know there are those who would. Are there enough? I can see it becoming a 'regular' hotel with upcharges for the activities in the future.

My two cents...

Let's just think we're talking about a ship and not a hotel. The concept here is total immersion, like two straight days at sea, where you don't leave the boat at all. You have to manage yourself to occupy your time. Activities and FOOD should not miss.

Also as a ship, there may be seasons to be on board. That'd avoid a lot of problems with occupancy.

The maintenance and service will be similar to a high standard ship and, I strong believe, the requirement of the guests should also be, especially for the investment involved in the vacation.

Although I'm not a fan of SW, I intend to go and I am sure I will enjoy the experience. It remains to be seen what they have up their sleeves to get us back though.

I wonder where the shuttle from the Halcyon will dock in Batuu?

Speculation is here:

Disney's Star Wars hotel will not be the most relaxing place in the galaxy

Full article from Mashable.com

🧐

Hmmm, there’s no underground tunnel to Batuu for a start. So what else have they just made up? I think this is pretty much all speculation.

I would be surprised if there was no adult-only space. Not everyone will be travelling with small kids. It’s not a deal breaker or anything, but I suspect there will be a bar area off limits to younglings.

Glad someone else thinks so. Out of interest, what else (other than the “underground” transport did you spot that was wrong?

I originally thought he was stating the price as actual 1400, but I just misread that. Overall though he is jumping to so many conclusions that everything just comes off as disgust.

Oh, there’s another incorrect fact from the article. It’s three days, not two.

But just imagine how much more exhausting three days of activities will be. 🙄

It's actually two. First and last days are half days due to check in and check out. It's a two night stay, which in resort and cruise line lingo means the equivalent of two days.

It’s the equivalent of 2 full days, sure.

But if I look at the DCL page, they advertise a 3 night / 4 day cruise. So what do you mean “in resort and cruise lingo”?

Talk to any booking agent, they'll talk in terms of "nights." When a booking site asks how long a trip you want, they'll usually ask "how many nights." You get charged by the night, not how many days you're there.

I know you’re charged based on nights for things like the dining plan and a resort booking at WDW.

But it isn’t universally true even of Disney.

Take the DLP site. If you book a room at one of the hotels, you have to buy a ticket for every day of your stay. So regardless if you’re arriving at 5pm and checking out at 10am, you still have to buy a 3-day ticket. It’s pretty much a scam for a lot of people who are not arriving on the first Eurostar from London.
