If price is the problem, I think the Cabanas in the new Carnival Vista cruise ship would suit you more.

There are some in the second floor which dont share walking paths. They have private pool area in the back of the ship.

I don’t really need a suite.. I would like an Aft Suite in Alaska only because I think we’d spend more time on the balcony and in the room there, and also for excursion purposes.
But I can’t and won’t ever be able to justify the price tag of it.lol.

I would do a MSC Yacht Club cabin in Europe though.. their prices aren’t too bad comparatively...I would like to do MSC someday.. but, again, NCL and their perks ha ha.. after our next cruise we will hit silver.. after only 2 cruises! Only because I booked during a double point special both times. Plus, I already get priority embarkation and disembarkation on NCL now, which is really nice.

The Carnival Vista looks so neat! I had my eye on it before the first sailing.. I’ve read good reviews on it as well.

Oh.. great suggestion!!!!

I bought him Adventures of Huckleberry Finn around this time last year, but he had a little trouble with the dialect in the book.

His favorites the past year have been- Captain Underpants, he’s completed that series.. now he’s on the third book of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.

I HATE both of them!!! Hate hate hate. They’re junk. But the kids love them.

We buy or borrow a lot of culture and history books as well, he hasn’t shown an interest in too many classic yet :(. I’m trying to get him to absorb more than the carp in both of those HORRIBLE series. Oh, one positive, he did read The Little Prince and enjoyed that.

I had the Babysitter’s Club books when young.. but I still loved the classic books. I’m hoping he will be the same.
In a few years (or now, if you thought he would be ready for Huck Finn), The Kingdom Keepers would be a good series.

Now there’s literally no venues left for the times we need. (I usually book his bday party in February, March at the latest). So, this year I told him that we’ll figure out something...but I still don’t know how/what.
There’s no way that I can do one at home, I just don’t have the prep time.

Well, maybe you still could have a nice party for him at home after all. If you don't have the time to cook food or bake a cake, why not just cater it? It might also be cheaper than getting a venue, etc., as well.

(As a side note only, when I was a kid, my parents never did venues--everything was done at home. We'd have cake and ice cream for the party, as it would be a mid-afternoon get-together. My brothers, sister, and I would invite our little pals to the party, and we'd open birthday gifts. It wasn't a fancy birthday party by any means, but somehow, we all had a great time! )

Short answer- Last year 18 kids attended his party, 19 the year prior. He wants to invite 25...of course a few won’t be able to make it, but I just don’t have the energy to entertain that many 7&8 year olds inside my house. Most importantly- I don’t want their mess inside my house.lol.

My parties were similar to yours when I was growing up, but I have a summer birthday so at least my parents could host them outside.. and my mom always did a bunch of games for us. I just really don’t have the time to do that.

I am crossing my fingers that the weather will be nice for his first communion in May.. that way the kids at that party will be able to play outside for the most part.

Yikes, we were only allowed to invite about 6 friends. My parents could not have dealt with all those kids either.

Oh that reminds me.. @dryerlintfan , I showed T the photo of A’s bday party with the humane society gifts. We looked up different charities, he wants to do a soccer theme.. and give donations to “Charity Ball”... I feel a little weird asking people to bring money, so I’m trying to talk him into the humane society as well.
What do you think? Is it weird to ask for monetary donations?
