That's what I was thinking. With the savings you could add a few park days even with paying for parking at Disney and still come out aheadJust checked an article out. Those will definitely give Disney a run for their money.

Where did you get it?Another book lover here! Happy to say my newest purchase arrived. The Unofficial Haunted Mansion. DD is already angling to read it.
If price is the problem, I think the Cabanas in the new Carnival Vista cruise ship would suit you more.
There are some in the second floor which dont share walking paths. They have private pool area in the back of the ship.
So maybe an equipment failure? The anchor seemed down.. so maybe they lost control of the propulsion system? Because it also wasn't trying to turn away...
The bow thrusters didn't seem to be turning or moving.
It's so good. But you can't stop with Cinder. Read all of them, because they just get better...@StarWarsGirl in my travels tomorrow I'm picking up Cinder, it had better be good or elseSaturday brings me reading on the deck weather

Sounds wonderful! It will be June 29th. 7 nights. We are on the 9th deck even though we have an inner storeroom. I booked 12 months in advance and carefully selected the good location. Dinner is ready...gotta go

In a few years (or now, if you thought he would be ready for Huck Finn), The Kingdom Keepers would be a good series.Oh.. great suggestion!!!!
I bought him Adventures of Huckleberry Finn around this time last year, but he had a little trouble with the dialect in the book.
His favorites the past year have been- Captain Underpants, he’s completed that series.. now he’s on the third book of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
I HATE both of them!!! Hate hate hate. They’re junk. But the kids love them.
We buy or borrow a lot of culture and history books as well, he hasn’t shown an interest in too many classic yet. I’m trying to get him to absorb more than the carp in both of those HORRIBLE series. Oh, one positive, he did read The Little Prince and enjoyed that.
I had the Babysitter’s Club books when young.. but I still loved the classic books. I’m hoping he will be the same.

You should be able to pick one up and read it for yourself to see if they are appropriate for T. I loved reading them. Got to meet the author as well. Nice guy.Are those the Disney books? Do you think they’re ok for an 8 year old? I wasn’t sure if they were for teens.
Thanks! Will do!You should be able to pick one up and read it for yourself to see if they are appropriate for T. I loved reading them. Got to meet the author as well. Nice guy.
Now there’s literally no venues left for the times we need. (I usually book his bday party in February, March at the latest). So, this year I told him that we’ll figure out something...but I still don’t know how/what.
There’s no way that I can do one at home, I just don’t have the prep time.
)Well, maybe you still could have a nice party for him at home after all. If you don't have the time to cook food or bake a cake, why not just cater it? It might also be cheaper than getting a venue, etc., as well.
(As a side note only, when I was a kid, my parents never did venues--everything was done at home. We'd have cake and ice cream for the party, as it would be a mid-afternoon get-together. My brothers, sister, and I would invite our little pals to the party, and we'd open birthday gifts. It wasn't a fancy birthday party by any means, but somehow, we all had a great time!)
From the weather map I just looked at there are thunderstorms in the area, so I think they close the coasters until they pass.
We are doing Royal Caribbean out of Vancouver....cruising to Alaska.
Departure June 27th or 29th....one of those two
.....and yes....we elected for the inner stateroom. Just there for sleep and a shower. Out and about the rest of the time

Gonna see some ice bergs up close![]()
Short answer- Last year 18 kids attended his party, 19 the year prior. He wants to invite 25...of course a few won’t be able to make it, but I just don’t have the energy to entertain that many 7&8 year olds inside my house. Most importantly- I don’t want their mess inside my house.lol.
My parties were similar to yours when I was growing up, but I have a summer birthday so at least my parents could host them outside.. and my mom always did a bunch of games for us. I just really don’t have the time to do that.
I am crossing my fingers that the weather will be nice for his first communion in May.. that way the kids at that party will be able to play outside for the most part.
I think @MinnieM123 might be on to something View attachment 276991
