Just an idea, my kids weren't keen on the HP books at first...they start too slowly. We watched the first movie, because it follows the book pretty closely, so you don't miss a whole lot, but it got them into it and then they wanted to read more. Now they love them. DS is still scared from the 4th movie on...he's read the first 3 books, but he's a bit scared of the 4th because it gets darker. But we watched the movies first so he knew what was going on, and then he read the books after.

Read a few of the books, watched all movies.
I never had the courage to finish. lol
(By HP you mean Harry Potter, Correct?)

Also, Just a question, but why's everyone treating me like the bad guy here? It's just a miscommunication...
"you are joining...not taking control."
etc. I thought the person i was telling not to spam was new to the internet, so i wanted to help her. that's all. i didn't ask for hate.
And by the way, please words things a bit differently, what y'all have been saying has really made me feel cruddy. I legit cried last night, which is something i don't tell people usually. (Not Lying) And please understand you don't know what personal issues someone may be having at the time, and that your words may severely affect them. All i wanted to do was help.
Look, we're really not trying to make you feel bad here. We're trying to explain what is and is not acceptable around here, and we're trying to help you move past it. The best thing you can do is say, "I'm sorry, I didn't know" and move on, but you keep bringing it up.

You can also look at a person's information and tell how long they've been here. The member in question was well known with thousands of posts.

Also, take this from someone who has fought with depression for the last seven years...getting upset over something on the Internet isn't worth it. If you're that upset, take a breath, take a break, and come back when you're ready. In the meantime, these are some very kind people who definitely do not mean to make you upset in any way.

Not trying to drag it on, just trying to come to a solution. I have I'm currently going through depression, so I'm really sorry about that.
Anyway, thanks for the help
(Also, totally forgot to check the persons information, sorry.)

It's a YA series called the Lunar Chronicles. Basically, the author based it off of fairy tales and instead made them science fiction books. Since I love Star Wars, they were right up my alley. I just happened to check out the first one from the digital library as an audiobook to keep me entertained at work since it was available and I was doing something tedious and repetitive one day, and I ended up enthralled with the books.

Right now I'm rereading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and I also have another book checked out of the library, plus another that I'm waiting for to get from the hold list.
Sounds fun...I'll have to check it out. Did you read the Peculiar series? (Miss Peregrin's home for Peculiar Children is the first) I loved that one, though the first book was the best.
Right now I'm reading something I can't mention here because it's taboo subject matter. Once I finish it, I have a ton of books to read about Autism, and then I have some...not really travel, but books about things I find interesting...one is about castles, another about world wonders, another about cities around the world...I actually have SO many books waiting to be read.

"Taking Control" and trying to help are differnt things..." Now may we please stop arguing?
I'm sorry....I wasn't trying to argue with you. I was genuinely trying to help since you said you didn't understand why people reacted the way they did. I was just trying to explain why. What you see as trying to help is not the way it comes across. We may be a bit different from what you're used to, but we like it the way it is....kind of a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of thing. I'm really trying to be nice and helpful, not rude.

Yep! I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. I love HP the way Star Wars girl loves Star Wars. And the way most people here love Disney. Why didn't you have the courage to finish? Was it just too dark? My son is stuck half-way through the 4th movie. We started it, and he likes it, but he needed to take a breather, so we're waiting to finish it until he feels better about it. He's pretty sensitive, so sometimes it takes him some time to process before he's ready to move on. We'll get there.

By "Courage to Finish" I meant: "I was Lazy" xD

Moby ****. OMG, the most boring book ever written. I still couldn't tell you a thing about that book...I kept falling asleep while reading it. I'd read a bit, fall asleep, so then I'd have to read what I'd already read....then fall asleep again. So after about the 5th time I'd fall asleep, I'd just move on and hope that it would get better.

It didn't.
Started it and never finished it myself. It is still on the bookshelf collecting dust.:p

Oh...Are you talking to me? I'm not trying to keep anyone in their cage..
Not at all! I was talking to Figgy. Usually she warns all the new members to make sure to keep the ferret in his cage. It's kind of a sibling rivalry, I guess? We all tease each other about various things... @MinnieM123 about her love of snow/cold, @figmentfan423 about her love of vegetables and hatred of meat....once we get to know you better, we'll tease you about things more specific to you...all in good fun. It's not mean-spirited.

It's a long-standing joke. Mr Ferret is...trouble. So when he's being troublesome, we say we're putting him in his cage.
Yes...you'll notice that he posted many pictures of "spam" when all this started. It's such a Mr Ferret thing to do...and it gets everyone laughing, and then Figgy orders him to his cage and threatens to call his wife. You'll get used to it.

:hilarious: Gotcha...yeah, the last few especially are HUGE and daunting. But, I love them and I read them again every year. I know they aren't for everyone.
And see how easy it is? You are doing great....just having a normal conversation and fitting right in. Well done.
I'm on Order of The Phoenix Right Now.

Funny story: It was assigned to me Junior year of high school. We were split up into groups, supposedly according to level. One group got "Ordinary People", one group got "The Scarlet Letter", and the advanced group got Moby D i c k. So, it turned out my brother was the FTA (Future teachers of America) for my class who gave the assignments, and we had to read it over Christmas Break. My mom got so mad because I spent my entire vacation in my room trying to read that darned book my brother assigned and she reemed him up one side and down the other about how Christmas was supposed to be family time, and instead I was doing homework the whole time.
