What is the last day of school then? Here they are supposed to be done the Thursday or Friday before Memorial Day.

Our last day of school is June 7th. If we didn't have Spring break it would have been earlier and the calendar committee was going to scrap Spring Break in favor of getting out earlier but our board president was insistent on a Spring Break.

Our Spring Break is mid-March. Only 19 more days until Spring Break, not that I'm counting down or anything.

I like the expression on DS face, so cute.Stitch is a favorite around here as well. Here is a picture of ds at 8 months old on his first Disney trip in 2004. Stitch didn’t want to let him go.It was a memorable moment for me. I don’t think the characters are allowed to hold kids anymore.

They don’t get a Spring Break here. They get Good Friday off and the Monday after Easter.

We do a Spring Break every other year, then the years we don't have a Spring Break we do the Good Friday/Easter Monday off with a day off usually after our Spring parent teacher conferences. It's a little strange but I guess it works, kind of.

Me too, and “sloth mode” is a common phrase in our household.. usually used in the context of “Get out of sloth mode, and let’s go! Now.”
The sloth was fitting today.

This was us until last school year. We got a new principal last year, she changed our schedule to start school a little earlier and give the kids a Spring Break over Easter. I don’t know which one I prefer.

We homeschool as you know, and I start when the local schools do. I personally prefer a later start since the weather is still beautiful in August. It used to start the last week of August, but 3 years ago they moved it to the 3rd week of August so the kids would get an extra week to study for the standardized tests.
My sons birthday fell on the first day this past year, so I was kind and waited until the following Monday to start. We don't get snow days or take too many days off so we usually are done in May with an official year.

That was nice of you! Starting a school year on a birthday isn’t any fun.
I think I agree with you about the later start. Spring can be iffy weather wise, at least August is guaranteed to be warm enough to be outside.. and swimming!
Our first day of school was 8/24 this year, 12pm dismissal..I get it, unpacking and getting situated. Our last day of school is 6/1, 10am dismissal. I don’t even understand why the kids are going to school on that day.

We liked that movie a lot too. The music was amazing and of course..Hugh Jackman! I thought about taking my neice to it this past weekend, but the only theater showing it was about 40 minutes away and it was a late show.
After watching the movie I looked up the biography of PT Barnum online and it was interesting but the real story wasn't really close to the movie but that's entertainment. And somehow I don't think Barnum would have minded embellishment to get sales!
