Your whole point is that this cost extra and adds to the cost per day at a park. People are willing to pay for convenience. When you understand this, it makes it easier to figure out what Disney is doing. Its why valet cost so much. Convenience.

Where I differ is labeling a core product: the parks that the entire place was built for...as no longer fundamental...but something that can factioned off and sold as "convenience items".

I dont blame you there. POR is my absolute favorite resort.

And yeah, you can tell that Disney pretty much wants to charge moderate prices for Pop. I occasionally price out vacations for fun and always notice that pop hovers around that 180 dollar mark. I easily see them charging over 200 dollars a night once the gondolas are in place and working.

Wasn't that impressed with Pop. Was basically the same design and layout as the All-Stars.

I have never stayed there myself as I stay away from the values due to the bed and noise, but I like to check out the resorts on off days and yeah, I dont see how they charge what they do for Pop. Its absolutely ridiculous especially when you see the price gap to the other values.

I do understand the agitation for the people who have been seeing a decline in what you used to get at walt disney world. But at the same time. For Disney to stay competitive, they have to adopt new ways of getting in "high rollers" and really with club level, you dont get anything.

And it really doesn't help that Disney has been removing rides faster than they can get more put in with the increase of crowds. I do believe if more rides or other attractions were installed, it would make the fast pass system less burdensome. Unfortunately we will see the same issue at Star Wars land that we see at Pandora for quite a while. Huge lines even for fast pass.

Now where I will draw a line in the sand is if they ever decide to change three free fast passes. I can unfortunately see Disney saying, 2 Fast passes for value, 3 for moderate, and 4 for deluxe.

I actually think the Sky Gondola is awesome. I wonder if it will be available to everyone or just the people who stay at Caribbean and Pop.

I think it will certainly make the Boardwalk area more crowded as I don't think alot of the people who stay at the "value-mid resorts" even know about the Boardwalk area or the International pathway to Epcot entrance. That's my favorite entry point for Epcot. I hate having to go through Epcot through the front.

It's gonna be "available" to everyone...but the reasons why it's being done are pretty obvious:
1. Eliminate ALOT of bus expense
2. Sell dvc
3. Increase room prices a lot.

They all make sense...except #3 to a certain extent.
I have a big problem with this "location based pricing". It's technical but still true: Caribbean, AoA and pop were built to be relatively low cost motels. Simple as that.
Grand floridian and yacht club were built to cater to money.

No "ifs" "ands" or "buts"...and for that reason alone...the people should reject $400 Caribbean.

But they won't.

I hope you are correct in stating Disney will not eventually charge for fast passes in the future. I am inclined to think they will. People have proven they are willing to absorbe the cost of anything thrown at them and as you said there are ample people willing to pay for convience.

Nobody is really telling you not too...but if it annoys you that people don't want to go mindless and discuss the past, present, and future on wdwmagic...I'm not sure it's their fault either.

I agree with your premise...but I think that problem is pretty apparent in the sentence highlighted...

Disney isn't built for "high rollers"...that's kinda igers pipe dream that won't hold in the strategic longterm.

Unfortunately with the push for Club 33 in all 4 parks in WDW, they are definitely trying.

Moderates are already gone...they're charging $300 for port already and that just doesn't hold value.

I know the moderates as well if not better than anyone here...their history, value, operation and limitations. It's complicated.

My point is that the category pricing will be gone in 2 years...but they were built specifically to adhere to that. That doesn't equate.

I wouldn't look at it that way although I can understand how some people would have a bitter experience and be down about it. (especially if it was there one trip to Disney World).

For me I am always looking for value, improvement and time efficiency since I go down there quite often since I have the annual pass. Looking for what can be done better while still having a good time.

You, me, and all the "antifans" that still seem to be spending way more on average/frequency than the majority of dusters...

I've invested in a vacation home over 20 years inside the walt Disney world resort...and yet I don't have gate access to golden oak...

But I'm a "hater" because I ask for justifications and use all kinds fancy academia terms...

Instead of "how magical is POR?"

As an aside, what do you think of golden oak? Worth getting or bad investment. I figure with Star Warsland you have a whole new set of fans that's should help it at least retain its value. Answer unlimited fastpass seems like a great thing especially if they are going to start charging for it.

I think it's a predictable/typical iger era move...beyond that, I don't comment on housing developments
