Yea, there's really no pain to speak of, but, the x-rays confirmed it is indeed broken. No worries, as I still have 9.5 fingies...!!!!!

My grandfather broke his little finger when he was young and it was never set. He had just folded it at the knuckle down toward the palm of his hand. It remained that way all his life. He was a carpenter/farmer/heavy drinker which got him into a lot of bar fights. He was a very big man. My favorite memory of him was him climbing a ladder with a full sheet of half inch plywood. That finger and his thumb would be on one side of the sheet and the other three on the other side. Up the ladder he would go to the roof like it was a piece of paper. In other words, you should be alright.

I don't think we're ever going to get on a Carnival ship lol.

The tipping point was the news source saying "yet another one..." and I'm like? Another one? just how many brawls have been there in these ships?

Made it to Philly. The hotel is really nice. It is a boutique style. Some pics from the lobby and the view from our room.

Wow, those rooms almost looks like a 2 room DVC.

As I've said before I don't care for the value resorts at Disney. I've done them once during Mousefest for a short trip but the rooms and grounds were not what I was looking for on our vacations, especially the rooms/buildings. I'm curious now that they have 'toned down' the rooms at Pop and going to Queen beds would sway my opinions. I could easily avoid the sea of guests in the dining area and buses as Uber/Lyft is cheap.

I guess what intrigues me about Cabana is the more tranquil approach to their value resort. It is why I always liked the moderates, being more tranquil and a visual break from the park(s) themes. Pretty Rivers and lakes, forests of trees (as I am a tree hugger) and awesome architecture has always been my draw to the moderates. Cabana as a value got away from the Red Roof Inn, Motel 8 design, indoor elevators and hallways. They break up the dining into multiple venues plus a Starbucks with their options. Pizza, salads and desserts phone orders delivered where ever you are not just your room. A beautiful staircase to the second level of the lobby. Large pool with a lazy river. What I like is if you want to dine at any other onsite resort restaurant they have a complementary van that will pick you up and drop you off at the resort. They have really stepped up the offerings given it is priced at a value (orlando) level.
This resort intrigues me.

Your talk about Uni and Cabana Bay is intriguing me. May need to check it out next year. Maybe a split stay.

Thats why I laughed at some of the comments on various sites, where they said the crewmen should have been sued for X random law ( I guess they didnt get the memo that these ships run on the the country flag's laws and own laws)

And even most of those laws do not come into play often. The crew has the authority to keep and restore order as deemed necessary. Now the cruise line could deal with staff but it is not likely to benefit any passenger. About the only compensation for catastrophic injury to a passenger is if he or she is the sole bread winner and can no longer work and you are able to prove the cruise line was at fault in the country of where the flag is flown from. If a child dies on a ship by maritime law the child's life has no value. Why so many cruise lines went without lifeguards till recently or many still do not. The preschooler that seem to push that safety thought process with Disney was the ship was still at a US Port when the boy was found at the bottom of the pool. Shortly there after Disney posted lifeguards at the kids pool. But the Death on the High Seas Act remains intact and shows no signs of going anywhere as it is agreed upon international maritime law and has been around for 100 years and no challenges have been successful. If a cruise ship goes down and they all pass away for the most part all the cruise line looses is the ship which is insured. So if you see a brawl, get the heck out cause if you get hurt it is going to cost ya.

With the exception of India and Iraq, I have found that most people in most countries I've traveled to speak at least a conversational English. My half brothers English is really very good, his mom's is pretty good, and even his grandparents speak enough and use enough hand signals to get through breakfast.




We really didn't run into anyone in Germany that didn't speak at least some English!

When my Sis lived in Germany she said everyone spoke English she encountered and that was the case in most countries she visited around there too. Worst she said was France for her encounters anyhow.

The man over board systems drama is also a fine example of profits vs security in cruise ships.
