Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Not for just under a week. :D

So when are you scheduled to come back to reality? I say scheduled 'cause we are sending a nasty storm eastward that we are dealing with NOW! :cautious:

DD secondary job sent an email that everyone is expected to show up for work tomorrow. :cautious: Then the Executive Director the Top Kahuna sent out I will be out tomorrow e-mail. (he should have said nothing) Schools announced closings early today for tomorrow even Chicago that rarely closed. Chicago closed even their park districts. This dude sends an I'll be out tomorrow email on the heels of everyone is to be here tomorrow email sent by the second in command to staff. Why? Like anyone knows his schedule normally?
Stupid. :cyclops:

I agree Special Olympics are more fun! My older son does bowling

My DD has been a S.O. buddy for years in our local high school. Our local Sheriff departments 'cause is S.O. Our Firemen do a Fill the Boot Weekend too for the cause. The Sheriff also does a very large 5K to raise funds.

While at the mall this month, those little kiosks that want to spray cologne, moisturizer, or straighten your hair and spring at you as you navigate the hallway....Special Olympics set up camp in one of them. As supporters of S.O. it was so offensive to be bombarded by staff in the same 'tone' as the dude that wanted to straighten my hair in the kiosk before theirs. I had never seen this before as S.O. is so well supported in our area in their fund raising efforts. This hard sell, pushy, tacky, method lacked the dignity in which funds are currently being raised in our area to cover the cause. We've never fallen short of funds so I wonder what the heck?

I still don't have internet at home.:( I got a message that I could pick up my new router yesterday, which of course I did straight away but after installing it correctly I just got the message Connected no Internet. I spent a long time on the phone with technical support but they also didn't understand why it wasn't working. An engineer is coming tomorrow to try and work it out.
I am still working on getting reimbursed for the 2 doors that I had to replace because of leaks in my apartment. I spoke to some nice people and hopefully I can put in a claim to the council if the insurance continuous to refuse my claim. I did submit some more photos to the insurance that hopefully will convince them to pay out.
I also scheduled for my apartment to be painted and the damage to the walls etc. to be fixed. It will take 3 days to get it all done but should look nice again after that.
Sending some pixie dust

Some good news I can share is that my sister got the job she applied for. It is a little bit more money, 8 weeks paid vacation time and a paid for public transportation card. In total she got a much better package and she is excited because the work appears to be just her cup of tea with room for advancement. Her current boss was absolutely shocked she is leaving, this is the same jerk that refused to promote her.
Congrats to her!

Thank you. Rather frustratingly I have to replace my beautiful new door again because the council is forcing everyone in my building to get a fire proof door and frame.:( I understand why they want this but I am unhappy because the new door is not to my taste and I will have all new keys I will need to copy to give to my friends and contractor etc.
Sympathy like

I can't be are perfumes or colognes. Geir is one of the few I can be OK around just so it isn't in volume. My DD and I had my DS when he was in college put his cologne on outside before he left and would leave the bottle on the porch and we would retrieve it after he left. Geir oddly neither of us have an issue with unless it is the Norway pavilion-just way too much happening smell wise in that room.

Note: Cheaper rack rate anyhow: It is $49 and the bottle is twice the size as that in Norway pavilion
