In your case it was worth every penny and all the time you spent with the kids. My older ds likes to go bowling with the guys and James like a day at the pool with his friends:joyfull: I was just sayin I don't miss Chuck E cheese or the climbing places
Well, DD didn't want a party this past year...she just wanted to invite her 2 besties over to watch Netflix and eat junkfood. I can't say I missed all the stress of the baking, shopping, planning, obsessively cleaning, etc...nor did I miss the noise or clean-up. She has one friend with Autism and ADHD and that girl has always been a real handful. Loud, hyper, and didn't listen at all...she's not an instruction girl, she's a dive right in and make a mess girl. So I didn't miss THAT part of the parties..in that way, the play/climbing areas are so easy...just let them run and you don't really have to do much other than check on them periodically and round them up to eat occasionally. And these boys were really good about coming to get something to drink now and then, too, so we didn't have to round them up for it...they came back by themselves. It was SOOOO different. In a few years, we might be able to do the combi-deal they have. It's all attached....the swimming pool, Skyzone, and the new school. They are separate areas, but you can go from one to the other without going outside. They have a deal where you pay one price and you can swim, AND play at skyzone the whole day...you can just go back and forth between the two. The thing with skyzone is there are some areas where you HAVE to wear shoes and protective gear, like the hoverboards and the rope course. So you would have to get dressed every time you want to do skyzone, and do swimming gear every time you wanted to switch to the pool. We didn't do that this time because we don't know the boys and whether they have their swimming diplomas or not. So we stuck with Skyzone. But maybe in a few years, they can do both and they won't require supervision in the pool any more than they do at Skyzone. I'm guessing your boys are old enough that you can pretty much let them be and they can entertain themselves. I look forward to that day with DS. DD is a very mature 11, and her best friend is as well...the other friend (not the Autistic/ADHD one...a different one) is kind of on the outs (thank the Lord...that girl is manipulative and borderline abusive), so I'm thinking this next year might be majorly easy. But DS has a few years before he's old enough to do his own thing. He is a very young 10 who seems more like 6 or 7. We'll get there eventually, but it will take time. Maybe next year will be a movie day. Bowling sounds fun, too, now that you mention it.

Off topic question: does anyone have links to any of Al Lutz's articles regarding DCA in its early days? I want to read them but I can't find them. Thanks
I do not. Sorry I can't help you. You really don't need to be worried about being off topic...do we even have topics in here? We pretty much run wild with whatever we want to talk about.

My mom and pop paid for our phone...black, desk model, rotary. One in the house. At some point (I don't even remember what year), it was replaced by a black, trimline desk model, rotary. Again, only one phone in the house... :cyclops:

And those older phones were indestructible. Newer (landline) phones are not nearly as sturdy -- far more consumer grade. Back in the day when the Bell companies owned the equipment, it was much higher quality because they didn't want to have to pay to service it; hence, top quality phones. My parents never replaced any of the house phones, because they never have to. That was with a family of six for all those years, and beyond.

OK gang, out for tonight...Half-day Friday tomorrow, and then headin' off to Cruise City...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull:
Y'all be cool and the sweetest of Disney dreams/mornin' to all...!!!
Laterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...!!!!! :)

You have a GREAT time this afternoon! (Today at noon is our big buffet holiday season party, so I'll have the feed bag on, too!!) :hungry:

@FutureCEO , wondering what you've been up to lately. Did you definitely decide against getting a tree? I know you were hot and cold about it, and not sure what your final decision was.

For some odd reason, I was thinking back to a previous Thanksgiving/Christmas season, and I recall your funny comments about some crazy (heirloom) turkey platter that I think belonged to an aunt, or your grandmother (can't recall). Made me chuckle . . . ;)

I'm here. Disney buying Fox and I couldn't help but coming to read the comments. Apparently Wall Street likes it.

But no tree and I'm almost at the point where I apply for schools to get my masters, I think. Overseas is cheaper than schools like Bentley (45K) even with the exchange rate.

:hilarious: My aunt came this Thanksgiving but no crazy plates this year. But snow the past couple days even if it's only one inch at a time.

PS - I apologize but I'm not reading the 100 pages or so that I'm behind. It's too much.

Mixed feelings about Disney buying Fox. The few shares I have with Disney went up yesterday. Won't help my pocket book though. Basically 2 shares a person in my house. :p Should have bought 500 16 years ago. Could get it for under $15 a share. Hindsight is 20/20. :banghead::banghead: Ever thought of going to a state school for a masters? It would be way more affordable. I made the mistake of going to a private school for my education. Steering my kids to state or they better get a scholarship.

Yeah...stomach flu sounds good, but it IS hard to fake. Or would Brad not mind telling them you've got stomach flu to get out of it? Perhaps your dad could really want to have Christmas with you next year and you need to travel to Florida.
Oh I'm sure you've censored yourself greatly...I was just thinking of the pressure they are putting on Brad and I was going to make a comparison that would probably be considered inappropriate, involving the "If you really loved me..." line.

We will see about next year, all we have heard back from them besides the initial texts from one of there husbands and the flights is silence. No word from the sisters. One of there kids got into a car accident on Wednesday (we saw a post on Facebook about it) and hubby texted the girl and his sister right away. I expressed relief that the girl was ok on Facebook as well as hubs, still nothing back from the sister (brads niece texted him back thanking him for his concern on her accident). Oh well that's their problem I guess.
