You owed her because the repair shop screwed up? How do you figure that one?
She went to a lot of effort on that one. They weren't going to do anything for us, but she called someone in the sales department who used to be her go-to guy, and told him what happened (the guy who handled the repair over the summer actually got fired after that). She then said, "The car needs an oil change; what can you do for me?" And he took care of it. And then she took the car in, and let me have her car to go to work. If she hadn't, I probably would have had to take it to another repair shop further away on a weekend and had to pay for it. So yup, I owed her doing the dishes last night. I also bought her lunch yesterday.

Ah, that makes so much more sense. Hope you are feeling better today, though!

YIKES it's so windy and rainy my power has gone out a few times since midnight. Thankfully my dh went straight to bed when he got home. So today I got/can get some work done in peace and quiet and reading when the power was out and again if need be:joyfull: Yikes another flicker BYE
We lost power last night as well at some point. We rarely do, so it must have been a really bad storm that went through. Of course I slept through it.:D

Yikes...how do you get work done with the power out? Sounds like miserable weather.

We interrupt this program for a special announcement. We were at DD's school tonight for an informational presentation about choosing a high school and about the advice 6th graders get this year about which kind of school they should be looking at. The resource director is part of the team that decides on the advice for each kid, so she was there and she approached us afterwards and asked how DS is doing and said she had gotten an email today that the admittance committee approved his application and asked her to send his records so they can place him in the right level or something, but in any case he's approved to go to the special school! We haven't heard it from them yet, but I suppose that's because they needed info from her to put him in the correct class so they can give us all the information at once. And she asked when he can start and they said probably Monday. :D So relieved!!!!
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Sympathy like. Well, I don't even need benadryl to have weird dreams. But they do get weirder when I have a fever and I can imagine that benadryl could have that effect too.
Dr. Crusher from Star Trek TNG made a random appearance in my dream last night, so I don't know how much weirder that that you can get. :hilarious: Besides maybe Quark from DS9 making an appearance. I don't even know what Dr. Crusher was doing there; maybe we were on an away mission???:cautious::joyfull:

Ok I'm going to be a killjoy for a post so if you don't want to be bummed out skip on by but I just need to share my huge bummer of a day....

After lunch today all the teachers were called to an emergency meeting (it was a quick one in between classes so the kids weren't left on there own for too long). The news was that one of our students had committed suicide last night. She wasn't in my class anymore, but she was last year. She was in foster care and had many issues but I always got along with her really well and enjoyed having her in my classroom. She had so much potential I am just devastated to see that wasted and so disheartened that she considered that her best option. :( I just can't understand it. This is the second student I've had that has turned to suicide, the first one was when I was a first year teacher and despite being older now it is just as tough to deal with. Sorry for being a downer and thanks for reading.
Sorry, I am far behind, and just seeing this. So sorry for everyone. Suicide is so difficult to understand, and heart breaking. Hopefully, the teachers and students are getting extra support at this time from grief councilors.
