Hubby and I don't feel royal right now. We are both getting our usual reactions to the flu shot. I know it's not supposed to work this way....but every year has me questioning if some people feel under the weather for a couple days. We have to get better quick. We leave for the airport at 3 A.M. our time. This coming Saturday.

Hope that wears off quickly. I've heard of a few people who don't feel great for a day or two after the shot, but I've never had any issues.

I made baked gnocchi from scratch just to heat up my kitchen a bit. I didn't need to cook today but it sure beats being cold!

Sounds yummy. I had to work late so it was just leftover ravioli in the microwave.

Hope that wears off quickly. I've heard of a few people who don't feel great for a day or two after the shot, but I've never had any issues.

I guess I have been lucky, I have never had an adverse reaction to any shot, flu or otherwise. I've never had the flu either.

For those that love a toasty towel after a shower, @ajrwdwgirl when the temp dips, this is the new towel warmer from Brookstone. The older one is discontinued. I like that it has a timer that you can set. The older one would shut off after 10 minutes so if you took a bath the towel would not be that warm by the time you were done. Waiting for a coupon for this one. This would probably make a great Christmas present for you @figmentfan423.

I would love the towel warmer. Our bathroom isn't big enough for it though; we have a tiny bathroom. I guess the tiny bathroom is good for being less to clean but it does mean no luxuries. Oh well, maybe in a different house someday.

The ones I saw in Europe were connected to hot water heat. They were on the side of a wall, near an equally thin radiator and probably took up less then 2 inches even with the towel.

Just curious . . . are your towels freezing? Do you keep them in a meat locker, and then take one out after you finish your shower? Just trying to figure out why people need a towel warmer.

But what about air conditioning costs? Our heating bill is very low, because our little (and I mean little . . .LOL . . .) townhouse that we rent, is well insulated. Plus, I like the heat down to about 58-60 in the dead of winter, when it's the only time that I crank it up here. Hubs likes it much warmer, so he wears hoodies and sweat pants around the house! (Hey, opposites attract, you know?!)

Well I try and avoid the AC in the summer. It can get to 87 in the house before I consider putting it on and then I will set it to 83. I remember coming home a couple of weeks ago, maybe last, when it was in the upper 80's. DH had the AC on and it was set at 80. I walked in and said, "why is it so cold?"

No, no meat locker. The warm towels just make it a little more cozy, I've only had the luxury once at a spa and it was nice.

Today the hospital called me about my cataract surgery next Tuesday. I talked with a very nice woman. She took my health history, and asked me many questions. She also gave me all the information that I needed to be prepared totally for the surgery. Makes me feel really good about the procedure. I have to be at the hospital at 10:30 a.m., so that's not either too early, or too late in the day. Now as long as my husband doesn't get us lost. We have never been to that hospital before, so hopefully he's got the best directions for getting there on time. I always tease him when we drive to the suburbs. The hospital is in Arlington Heights, and we live in Chicago.

My thermostat is set for 72 degrees F year round, winter and summer. In the winter the heat pump keeps it at a comfortable 72 and in the summer the AC keeps it at a comfortable 72. My Heating and AC bill is the same no matter what season it is. Only once in over 7 years have I had to bypass the heat pump and use the internal heaters and that was one day when it was about 18 degrees and was also damp. I only used it for a few hours.

Yuck! Those are so bad. I used to get them and they got really big......full of blood...Mom would take a match that was lit and then blown out and hit the tick in it's derrier' it would back out right away, and I was good to go. It sounds horrible, but it worked. I never got an infection. Mom would step on the full tick. Yucky!
