My poor brother has bronchitis. :( Illness going around here. Thank goodness I'm already on an antibiotic so I'm less likely to catch it from him.
Eek....is he hacking up a storm? I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night with a coughing fit that didn't want to go away and I'm still having issues. I don't know why...I don't feel sick at all. Hope your brother is better soon and you don't catch it!

Sending {{HUGS}} from a nice safe distance. Do you have allergies? That's how my dh knows it's allergy season. GWS xoxo

We're still looking at other schools, tool, just to be sure, but so far it seems like the special one is the best for him, just because of the bullying. Most of the regular schools here have classes too big...33 kids in one class. And there's one that's only got 20/21 kids per class for his grade level, but they don't have a class of JUST his grade level...it's combination classes of 4th/5th, or 5th/6th. Plus that one is ALMOST as far away as the special one. If I'm going to have to take him 30 mins by bike each day, I'd want it to be a perfect fit. We'll look at all of them though, and see what we come up with. There are bullies in pretty much every school...I don't think we can handle more bullying at this point.
I guess they don't have school buses there? 30 minutes is a long bike ride, especially in the winter months, although I did have to walk to school uphill both ways.;)

Amen. And thankful for the start. Curious as to the 'whys' they don't offer support for homeschooling when stating his school isn't in his best interest and have not placed him elsewhere yet? So different than here where they must then provide a visiting tutor. But nonetheless I'm so happy for him. How is he reacting to the development? Good thing you are a teacher. How does it conflict with your job? So many questions. But such good news.
There's really no such thing as homeschooling here. But we refused to send him to school for reasons I don't want to get into here in a public forum. School is required though, so we had to have some alternative and the school said they'd be willing to put things online for him and the attendance officer agreed that it was an acceptable alternative short term. If it takes weeks and weeks, he'll have to be placed SOMEWHERE. But since it's OUR decision to keep him home, it's on us to provide a suitable solution until we get him enrolled somewhere. The school says they can't offer him the environment he needs, so we HAVE to enroll him somewhere else, but he COULD go back there until we get him enrolled. We just refuse to do that as we feel he is not safe there. He's really happy he doesn't have to go back. He was terrified. He IS nervous about a new school, so we're looking at websites with him for the schools we're looking at and he is concerned about how the homeschooling will work. "Do I have to call you Mr. --- and Mrs. ----?" No...we're just mom and dad. "Do I have to go outside for the recess?" No, you can play inside if you want to. "What about PE?" But overall, he's relieved that he's not going back to that school. I've filled my work in about everything that's happened and they are giving me 3 months to choose the hours I'm available to work so I can stay at home for now with him and then I can change my availability back to normal once he's in a new school. Since I don't have set hours anyway, I'm a flex worker...I can always say I can't work during vacation periods or whatever. The only issue was changing my hours for this next 2 weeks for which I was already scheduled. I had to move all my hours to the evening and let one shift fall. So they are working with me.

I do, but it's usually my eyes that get itchy and swollen, not my throat that acts up. I can't lie down. I sleep sitting up so I don't start coughing. I have slept sitting up for part of the night ever since pregnancy though, because my hips would ache so bad after sleeping on my side for a while and I'd need to straighten out, but couldn't lie flat on my back or I couldn't breathe properly, so I would prop myself up for part of the night and I still do that. So last night, I just slept sitting up. No biggie.

Ha! I bet you walked up that hill in 2 feet of snow, too! You poor thing!
Nope, no school buses. The city will pay for a taxi service if you live more than so many miles away...like, my neighbor's girls are both hearing impaired and have to go all the way to Arnhem for school. But we're too close to be considered for that.

Well hopefully your ds will be able to focus on his schoolwork in the interim and not worry about what happens after he leaves his classroom.

Thanks. I'm pretty confident he'll be fine. We're quite lucky in that school work is really easy for him...he doesn't really need the instruction. He's not good at planning and organization, but that's what we're for. And with any luck it will only be a couple of weeks...a long as it takes to pick a school and get all the paperwork approved.

Do you have a See Eyeware near you. My Sis swears by them. Trending without the insane mark up. I'm going to try. 2 in N Illinois

Never heard of it. I had to go with my insurance- well didn't have to, it's just better.

I got my glasses. Actually three pairs. Regular ones and then because I bought that and was looking at sunglasses.... they were like buy 1 transitions and get the sunglasses (lenses) for free as long as you pay for the frames.

So they counted my regular ones as the BOGO with the sunglasses and threw in transitions anyway.

More money then I wanted to spend but i spent about the same for the glasses I have now (magnetic with clip on sunglass (not prescription) and I don't really buy anything for myself.

All in all, thank god for insurance.

Glad that all worked out. And yes we all look at insurance as a blessing or at least for the time being. Glasses are so freak'n expensive even with insurance. Seeware glasses came in for about $100 a pair for designer type glasses. Watch for them in the future.

Where I grew up it was when the girls got their first grown up dressy outfit:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:. Not so much a rule as tradition. Thinking back the mother of a rather short girls took her daughter for her first dress in the juniors department and then proceeded to spend a small fortune to have it altered and had to go into the city for a pair of dress shoes. After confirmation most of the girls got taken out for dinner at a fancy restaurant sans siblings. :joyfull:
Know that feeling. Gran always ripped my new clothes apart to get to fit. My first uniform was a children's 6. I was still in preschool sizes and uniforms were not made that small.
