I'm not looking for the highest price, but hubby said, it will be his back-up, so he is going for no bargain, either. He said the same thing, you get what you pay for, @Cesar R M (great minds think a like!)
You could always buy the cheapest model of the most expensive series, these are usually the cheapest but have good parts that can last a lot.

That is for laptops.
For Desktops, I always choose the best motherboard (best chipset with the cheapest price model, aka nongaming models) and start building from there.
