Hmpf. Didn't know there was an outlet for Disney in the Dells, I Disney Store I would understand unless there is an outlet mall up there now. Soooo many years since I've been to the Dells. I figured out early in my kids childhood that the Dells cost far more per day than WDW did per day so even the Dells fed my Disney addiction. Because of that I am not up on the new arrivals to the Dells area.
So glad Hubs thought to book a hotel. Yippie! I'm surprised at the Confirmation time. My BIL's have bolted from Catholicism and raised their kids Lutheran. (my MIL, the devote Catholic was never told her 2 boys changed religions) their kids were confirmed in the Spring vs Fall in 8th grade. And yep, a family event. Being Catholic my kids had a family event for Communion only at about 8 years old. It becomes very overwhelming and costly. I can argue the Uncle a Pastor being there either way. An 'out' being so far away being a genuine excuse. Nice though that your Hubs is realizing the rub with bunking with his family. That is always rough no matter how well family gets along.
Hope you find stuff at the outlet and purchase the giant bag of Garrets.
Hint: If you are at Woodfield on your way home...have him take you to Uncle Julio's for lunch, a sensational meal and margarita (he drives, so for you) as your reward for being a good sport. Making some more lemonade.Heck I'll drive up and join ya!
Happy farm market Saturday![]()
At least they were fined, right? D:Meh, that's lightweight. Can't even compare to the famous Big Dig project in Boston (1991 to 2007). It was estimated to cost 2.8 billion, and ended up closer to $22 billion with cost overruns, etc. Due to some design flaws (to put it mildly), some defective materials, etc., Bechtel Parsons and Brinckerhoff, the consortium that oversaw the Big Dig project, had to pay millions in restitution and some other companies also were fined.
To this day, it remains the most expensive road/tunnel project in U.S. history!![]()
Oh AMEN!! It looks like DS might have Autism after all. They tested him in...Feb? for Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, and they tested his IQ. They said that while he has "streaks" of all those disorders, he isn't really on the spectrum, and that his meltdowns are caused by a huge difference between the "verbal" and "performance" sides of IQ. His verbal (cognitive) IQ puts him at gifted, but his performance IQ is below average, so he gets frustrated when he can't perform a task. So we've had him in a sort of Therapy now for 4 weeks and the therapist told me today that she's having 2nd thoughts, now that she knows him and has spent time with him. She thinks he is showing a LOT of behavior consistent with Autism...not being able to handle change, not having insight into his own behavior or role in a situation, etc. So I don't know where we go from here, but as a parent, I have to be the one to make sure he gets what he needs. He didn't ask me to bring him into this world, and however much work and frustration it can be, it's still my job to take care of him and meet his needs. Like you said, why have kids if you aren't going to raise them??
Welcome back!! I'm so glad to see you "home". We all have moments of frustration and need a break. Just like any "family", we have disagreements. But we all still care about one another and enjoy spending time together for the most part. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't really need the apology. I'm just glad you are feeling better about everything and that you came back.
The thing about that theory is that one has to assume that eclipses don't happen all the time. They just appear in different areas based on the earth and moons relation to the sun. The fact that there are more serious weather happenings now in all probability is due to something that we were warned about decades ago and that was Climate Change. No, not necessarily confined to global warming, but, general cyclical changes in climate. We have been through a long period of relative quiet and in relation to time, we are just entering the "spring" past the ice age. Nobody we know will be around when we get to the really heavy stuff, but, I am confident it will happen. The millions of years of earths existence and the evidence of change over that time almost guarantees that. So, in short I wouldn't put too much into the eclipse theory, since this is just one that was in the right place at the right time so it was witnessed by an entire continent. In other words... coincidence!I really did cope better with the warm temps in Florida than here. It ranged in Northern IL from 94 to 100 today. In my Mom's town it was 99 and the humidity is high. Strange 'cause there hasn't been rain.
Not long ago we had the solar eclipse. I was listening to a favorite of mine WGN news/talk radio today. One topic was the correlation to all the awful weather events that has happened since the eclipse. High energy earthquakes, high ranking hurricanes, tornadoes etc. It wasn't that these things are unexpected but the shear volume and intensity of these earth events in very short order immediately following the eclipse. I am so far from any real working knowledge on how the sun and its planets join forces but it was some interesting thoughts and theories being discussed.
I am the youngest of two brothers and Donna is the oldest of 4 siblings. I have an 18yr old nephew on my side and Donna has 5 nephews and 4 neices on her side. And 1 great neice on hers now.
I'm not nearby but I got friends and family nearby. There were a lot of damaged buildings. So I expect deaths in the 100's
This is why I will never move to California.
three category five's in the Atlantic in a month too.
The outlets have been there many years now. We were never a dells family, I think we went once when I was in high school, we did the ducks and mini golf. My mom always called it a tourist trap. She preferred to take us to Florida or head up north here in Wisconsin (the candy store in Hayward WI is heaven). Anyway the Disney outlet is a Disney store outlet but does have a parks section, its usually Disneyland stuff.
There probably won't be Woodfoeld stop on the way home because I will just want to get home and hubs has a conference to get to. Your restaurant choice seems good, you recommended a place for breakfast last year that we ended up going to that was great. I think it was wild berries or something like that. Maybe some day we can plan a mini meet up when we come down. It would make going down there something to look forward to.
Oh yeah we also have to go to the kids band competition tonight too. It just happens to be this same weekend. It sounds fun.![]()
sympathy like for both of you. xoxoKapono and I wish we were going. Luckily she has plenty of her dog treats still.

AMEN!!!!! right back at ya'!!!!!
As you already know, our DS was born at 1lb. 4oz.
This is, obviously, where most of his issues come into play.
I could write a book (he will be 25 next month) about his/our ups and downs.
If you saw him in public, and started a conversation with him, at first you would probably not know he was "different".
But, further into the conversation, you would probably know something was a bit different.
This is why it has, also, been so difficult to dial his particular situation in. Some are totally obvious, he's in a "blurry" area...as in he is "normal", but, at the same time, not so much.
He was first diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, then, along the way, Aspergers and on the autism spectrum. The ride has been amazing in a crazy way, but, he's our son, and there is NO way we're ever giving up or checking out.
He is funny, personable, social, although, he sometimes has issues with appropriate responses in certain situations (but, don't we all, sometimes![]()
![]()
).
He has major issues with time and space and math, and spelling. Yet, he can read like a maniac...!!!Everyone is just wired sooo differently, and sometimes it's just so difficult to get it all sorted out.
However, he has had his job at the Salvation Army for a long time now, and he is very happy with that.
Bottom line, we did everything we were capable of doing for him, and we woudn't trade him EVER for anything.
We know in our hearts we did the right thing...!!!![]()
