I loves me a greasy spoon! Diners are the best, and very hard to find now. There's a few left in my state. Some years ago, hubs and I had this hobby of driving around New England to find diners. It was fun! Love the style of the one you went to--that's exactly how I like to see them (the few that remain . . . :cautious: ).

About 10 years ago, there was one that was well known in our parts, but the owner sold it to another chef. The new chef completely changed the menu into some sort of gourmet cooking menu, and guess what? It didn't last a year under the new ownership--epic fail.

Your REAL diner deserves another bow here.

The last time we were at a diner was was when we drove to NOLA 2 years ago for the weekend to celebrate youngest DDs 21st birthday. I posted about it at the time.

It's no old railroad passenger car, but, it's every bit a diner, and check out the Mickey "watch" clock on the wall...! :)

We all very much enjoyed our meals, and my burger was awesome...!!!!! :hungry: :)

My perfect day went to heck quickly. ok maybe it wasn't so perfect after waiting up for James, getting up to get my dh off to work at 4(at least I got to sleep until 3:30) and getting the kids to a fund raiser before going shopping but it was pretty good considering and was looking to get better. Now I have to tell my dh and James on of their favorite aunts has passed when they get home:( It's going to be a rough week:(

Very sorry, behind again.
So sorry for y'all's loss of a dear aunt.
Sincerest condlences to all of y'all.

What an awesome day @ajrwdwgirl ! I wonder if our local Hershey Bears(not NHL but it is the closest), does something like that. I remember the diner from Mighty Ducks. :)

We even have an American Hockey League team down here in Austin...the Texas Stars, the affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars. We went to a game a few years ago. It was fun...! :)

Those diners always have good food. This one is always fun because even though the cleanliness is questionable at times the food is always fantastic and they use a lot of local food in their menu items. The breads are from a bakery a few blocks away and all the meat comes from a local butcher shop. The dining car is really small too only four booths in the back and counter that seats maybe 12 at the most. The staff is a hoot too, they are some tough characters yet still friendly. One of the waitresses has been there forever and has a sharp wit to her, very no nonsense.

We always eat at least once at Mary Ann's Diner in Urbana IL around the corner from where my DD Dorm was when we visit.
The lady that runs it is no nonsense and actually is kinda scary but efficient. The food is plentiful, the decor is beyond basic. The food is cheap but it is 24/7 and the later in the evening and late into the night the food cost rise. They also have the best shakes but rarely had as we hit breakfast in the morning hours vs overnight.

If only could have those prices we might eat breakfast there more often.
