MUTCD Breakaway signs. They didn't function as anticipated. See attached. While they are "hinged" its not a mechanical hinge, rather a cut in the I beam which creates a weak point. It will need to be replaced.

The message on Channel 3 got changed in order to say that the parks and Disney Springs will be open tomorrow. Water parks remain closed.

Even Animal Kingdom? Wow! I was expecting it to open on Wednesday or Thursday.

Very true. I know that we had an almost desparate need last night to know what was going on with the storm, especially in areas where we have family, all while we were waiting for it to hit us. Such an odd feeling. We tried to watch movies with the kids too but it was hard to turn off the news. I did appreciate some of the coverage of Harvey were they were using their news crews to actually rescue people.

This is how my parents felt about me during Wilma. My mom called the Red Cross and asked if they knew about my area, because most of the mainstream media was still covering Katrina and not much coverage on Wilma.

It's very scary when loved ones are in the path of a storm and you have no idea if they are ok.

During the first week of school, my daughter (9 years old) and two of her friends were learning about Hurricane Harvey and decided to hold a bake sale with the proceeds going to the victims. They raised nearly $700 during the four hour sale and with my wife's company matching any donations, they raised almost $1400 - pretty good for three fourth graders!
On a related note - before we were married, my wife worked in Freeport, TX as part of her training rotation. She still has some friends in the area so this storm hit home a bit.
Maybe another bake sale is in the future - the house sure smelled good prepping the goodies.

It seems to, I'm surprised as well. Disney being Disney, things can change at the last minute or it could be a mistake, but if it ends up really opening tomorrow, I'll be amazed.

Don't you dare complain about Animal Kingdom losing some foliage. How dare you bring this up? Honestly. Some people. Priorities.

With all due respect, I do not understand why you're making @donsullivan look bad here, and I certainly don't understand why so many people are liking your response. Unless I missed a previous interaction elsewhere, @donsullivan was merely stating that AK was a mess in 2004 after the foliage took a bad hit, and it opened up a day later than the other parks as a result. There isn't a single complaint in there, so there's no need to shame anyone.

Whenever there's heavy rain Epcot's Future World becomes a pond. There seems to be a major issue with drainage at that park... Of course this time it's a little more understandable, but there have been many times I've seen quite deep puddles round the back of Club Cool near Journey Into Imagination...

Agreed... in May of last year we were hiding from a downpour inside Mouse Gear and there must've been 20-30cm/8-12" of standing water outside the store. A poor CM had to run out into the rain every few minutes to try to free up the drain with water halfway up to his knees, while trying to duck from guests who were running through the "pond" with strollers like crazy people.

So since it has uniforms I take it this is a private school where kids have families that can afford to keep bringing $5 a day so they aren't ostracized by their classmates for not being able to participate and can fulfill the 100% participation expected?

I can only speak for the school my children attend and you are way, way off. 1/2 are on some sort of scholarship and on the free lunch program. The other 1/2 have very hardworking parents who's paycheck goes toward tuition and life not much else.
So the $1,700 we raised through our our of uniform week was money those families needed but sent to Texas because they needed it more...

I'm currently at the Boardwalk and looking at SpaceShip Earth there appears to be a couple of dark patches that look like some sort of damage facing out towards world showcase. I don't have a good enough camera with me to zoom in and verify what it actually is, damage or dirt of some sort.

Edit: LOL not my husband and me, but there are dark areas on SSE above us. These were there Saturday, and someone else who traveled in August saw them.

Yup. It's crazy how bad the water gets. This was September 4 last year, granted this was around the time of Hermine, but not the first time I've experienced this.

All four parks and Disney Springs will be open as scheduled tomorrow. The Swan had an outdoor awning destroyed in the storm. Beach Club had some siding damage and some light poles had some damage. I haven't heard of any other major noticeable damage to buildings at the resorts at this time.
