We went to the Efteling on Friday (the closest thing the Netherlands has to a Disney Park) and we had so much fun. There are a couple things that are not cool, like...apparently, you can't leave and come back on the same ticket in one day. So if you go into the park, and you realize you forgot something in your car, you can't go back and get it and come back in. At $40 per day per ticket, that's pretty bogus. Opening hours are pretty limited for the price, too..10 to 6. BUT, through the Summer, they have a party every Friday and Saturday night and the park stays open until 11, and they have a water show that is very cool. So we left at 8 am to get to DH's office to print the tickets along the way and we got there 5 minutes before opening. By the time we got parked and walked to the entrance, it was just opening and we were some of the first people in the park, besides the people staying on property who got in 30 minutes prior. So we headed straight for the back because we figured most people would probably just go for what they saw first, and all the roller coasters DH wanted to go on were at the back of the park. He got on those with no wait and was quite happy...we just waited because none of us wanted to go on with him.

We went from there to the other side of the back where the train station is and we decided to do the train, thinking it would be a great way to see what there is in the park and figure out where we wanted to go. Unlike Disney's railroad, they have made it so that you can't see anything but the parking lot and the picnic area, so it was not a fruitful trip, but it WAS cool being on the steam train...we were sitting near the front so we could see them shoveling in the coal, etc. After that, there was a ride where you sit in a little boat and go around and around, kind of like a carousel, but not. But DS really wanted to go on it, so we did.

There's a new ride called Symbolica that we wanted to try, but the wait time was 70 minutes and we didn't want to wait that long, so we decided to go to the Sprookjes Bos (fairytale forest) and to the OTHER dark ride, Droomvlucht (dream flight) and see if the wait time went down. Sprookjes Bos is really cute and it's got all your famous fairy tales...Pinnochio, Rumpelstiltsken, Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, etc. And there are some I've never heard of, so they might be Dutch.

They have this trash can that has like a vacuum mouth and it says "Paper here" and when you throw trash in, it says "Thank you". I saw it and I had to laugh...this trash can has been around since park opening...DH said they loved throwing in trash when he was a kid...but I SWEAR it looks like a certain person who is in the news a LOT lately.
DSCF5438.JPG

Then they have a whole village with these gnome/dwarf houses like toadstools.

The next part is Sleeping Beauty, but when we got up to the castle, there were so many little kids looking through the windows to see Sleeping Beauty and the witch/ spinning wheel that I decided not to even attempt a picture. It was just too crowded and it's so exciting for the little kids to see, so I didn't want to make them step aside just so I could take a picture. I DID take a picture of the outside theming because it was really neat with the sleeping guard and the waterfall. And by every tale, they had a "book" so you could read the story...DD found a typo in the English version.

Not sure what this one was called...but when you pull on something in the treasure chest, he breathes smoke and roars and moves.

And this one, where the donkey poops gold coins. Usually you can put in money and the donkey will poop a gold coin, which you then take home as a souvenir. But it was broken.

All the broccoli was chopped, some put aside for fresh this week, some chopped for soup, some just blanched and now cooling waiting to get vac sealed use to be determined and some for a salad made with broccoli(LOL), potatoes, hard boiled eggs
I'll make me some sans eggs
, onion, assorted herbs(legal lol), grated carrots and whatever else I feel like putting in when I add the mayo
vegan
. As soon as the potatoes are done and cooling it's on to stuffed peppers with basmati rice, white beans, Italian sausage, onion and green squash. I put a bit of my marinara on the bottom and I also top it with said sauce. Shoot I just remembered I have to also make zoodles today and a salad. If and only if I feel ambitious I'll make some mac and cheese:hilarious:

Is that an eight car garage?!!?!

That makes sense. I do imagine, however, that your freezer must be huge! ;)

We bought a deep freezer back when I was breastfeeding my daughter. Stored milk in it from pumping at work. Now that phase is over, and we use our deep freezer for food and it's so amazing. It's not huge but it makes such a big difference to our food budget. We're able to buy things in season or on sale and freeze them instead of buying them when they're more expensive!

My parents will be lucky if they ever get grandkids.

They're lucky to have you. No need to have kids if you don't want them. Kids are an amazing adventure, but do is living life without them ❤

My ex-mom-in-law had all four of her kids by age 24, bless her heart.

My mom had three kids by 23!! I had my one kid at 32. I can't imagine having had her in my twenties!

This one is really cool....it's about fairies who were trapped in waterlillies and they come out at the full moon to dance or something...it has music, and I have a video of part of it, but I don't know how to post videos on here.

The tree tells stories, so the kids gather around and it will tell some story. And if you look closely at that last picture, you can see a guy on a magic carpet...he plays an oboe-like instrument and makes the flowers grow.

After we got out of the Sprookjes Bos, we went to Droomvlucht, which DD and I loved!!

Ride...I have videos, but again, don't know how to do them, so I'm using screen captures. Unfortunately, the coolest part didn't come out because it was too dark. They were floating castles in the dark...sooooo neat.

We had been checking the app for wait times for Symbolica throughout the day. When we came out of Droomvlucht, Symbolica was down to a 50 minute wait, so we decided to go for it. The single rider line was only 10 minutes, but DS refused to go by himself, so we all got into the regular line. What's really cool is that throughout the line, they have these symbols on posts, on trash cans, on banners...DH has all those pictures. And he hasn't put them on FB so I can't steal them. But basically it's a cipher code, so we had fun trying to decipher all the signs. Some said things like "Today, the king will receive you in an audience" or something like that, and some things were just labeled, and some things were jokes or "facts" about Symbolica. And every few minutes, there's an announcement like "Boys and girls..there are 2 girls just there in the queue....yes...you two...raise your hands. Yes, everyone should use these fine ladies as an example. They are dressed most exquisitely, which is how one should look for an audience with the king!" Of course it's just a recording and DS is looking around for these two ladies and we had to explain that it's a recording...there's no one there looking and making announcements. I am pretty sure we were in line for more than an hour and the line is isolated, so we could hear this parade or something go by but we couldn't see a thing over the hedges, trees, etc...that was a bummer. It would have been nice to see something while we were stuck in line. We finally get up to the top, get in....and there's a preshow for a couple of minutes and then they open the staircase to....another line. So then you have to wait ANOTHER 20 minutes in the line to get to the actual ride. You can choose one of 3 paths. Music, Heroes, or Treasure. DD and I did music. DH and DS did Heroes.

It was really dark, so even my videos are bad, but we were also unfortunately in the back. There's an interactive panel in the front, which I have no idea what it does, but it controls certain parts of the visuals I guess, only the kid running ours managed to turn off everything, so we got NOTHING. It does something in the room with the mirror, and again something in the room with the organ.
We got to the end and were like...that's it? We waited over an hour for THAT??? It was short and there were great big spaces with nothing. And the room with the king at the table, you are spinning too fast to really SEE any detail, and because we were in the back, we also had the heads of the people in the front. It was really underwhelming. DS was very upset because 3 older teen girls (18, 19) rushed past DH and him to get into the front, even though the CM person asked people to let kids in the front to work the panels. So he didn't get to do it and wanted to go back and do it again...but of course the wait time was back up to 70 minutes. No way.

Granted, pets latch on to some of the strangest things, but considering how little Jasmine is, I think it's a bit of a stretch to think that she took your eyeglasses. I'm sure you already did this, but did you check through all of the bedding? Many times I've lost stuff --eyeglasses, remote controls, etc., and they've ended up in the folds of blankets, comforter, etc. Or, they've fallen to the floor and might be under the bed.

I hope you find your eyeglasses soon!
I looked under the bed, I changed the sheets,I've looked under the nightstands...I've turned this room, not to mention the house, inside out with no luck.

It didn't occur to me either until I left my spare pair of readers out and she started going after those fairly successfully.

Please would you and @MinnieM123 please stop blaming innocent family members when something happens. I keep a spare pair for just such an emergency.
I'm sure they'll turn up, but now I'm getting a spare pair of prescription readers. I have no other explanation for what might have happened to them. It is my fault, though; I should have put them back in their case.

Youtube tutorials...duh. Why didn't I think of that? I have a friend who makes costuming for cons and such, like bustles and corsets, etc, so I asked her if she could make some Minnie Ears...figured I'd give her some business, but she says it's out of her expertise...ok...then I will try to make them myself. Off to etsy to find material!!
If I remember correctly mellisacakes on youtube has a tutorial

There are a bunch of tutorials. They all seem to use glue, but one of them did cover the inside with velvet ribbon, and I bet that would counter the stiffness of glue. We'll see. I don't know where to get the foam stuff though. When I put in foam board on etsy, nothing like that came up. We'll see.

Could she have batted then out the window, maybe?

So....myth busted?

Myth definitely busted!!
