They won't have buses as a backup system for the gondolas? I suppose, in the event there are gondola issues, they can divert some buses from other routes?

That is something they can spin up on demand... change the sandwidch board at the park.. a few sign flips.. and walah.. a bus station again for a route. They always add buses when other systems are down/unavailable.. its something they can do without dedicating a route all the time.

Sorry for not pouring through all 120+ pages...based on the map on Page 1, will the route of the gondola's go in a continuous loop between all 6 statiosn, or will a line go between DHS and the big station on CBR property, and the other line, back and forth between the 5 stations not including the one at DHS?

See here:

Perhaps this will help see transfer points v. passing through (and at CBR DVC, slowing down to pick up and drop off)...

The Contemporary is withing walking distance of Magic Kingdom. The Grand Floridian and the Polynesian do not have bus service, but they have two methods available to get to the park -- monorail and boat.

Art of Animation is not within walking distance of any park, nor is there boat or monorail service available. I find it hard to believe that Disney will completely eliminate bus service in favor of the gondolas. Reduce it significantly, yes. But not eliminate.
I think I saw them running MK to Poly busses when the monorail was (scheduled to be) down last summer.
And the little boats used by Poly and GF are shared, and more importantly, the little boats are not Accessible.

I really think it would be worth someone's time to invent a "smart" gondola system that is automated. Similar to how hyperloop will operate. Sometimes a node will function as a "switch" and sometimes a terminus. Depending on rider destination. The gondolas might need to be color coded so riders know which to take. But any platform could lead to all destinations without having to change gondolas in such a system. Maybe someday.

Oh, and while I am at it, a gondola from the TTC to the WL seems like a no brainer. Even fits the theme.

One problem with having buses as a backup to the gondola system:

Say you are hanging out with Nemo and Friends at the Seas pavilion. It's late afternoon and your "precious angel" is starting to get a little cranky so you decide that you want to head back to your family suite at the Art of Animation resort. You pick up your stroller from the stroller junkyard and walk all the way through Future World and through Canada and Great Britain to get to the International Gateway Gondola Station. In the meantime, the skies decide they can't hold any more water and it starts to rain, and rain hard. You are getting aggravated because your $5.00 poncho isn't holding up to well and your "precious angel's" attitude has taken a turn for the worse. You finally get to the Gondola Station and you see a sign that says "Due to Inclement Weather, the WDW Gondola System is not operating. Please use bus transportation instead." Now is when you realize that the closest bus that is going to the Art of Animation Resort is at the front of Epcot.

@katiebug will not be happy!!!

At the moment, during a short downtime (weather) it'll be a case of "please wait."

There's two years yet. Hopefully they'll have second thoughts.
Wouldn't something like this solve the weather problem

Boat to DHS. Bus to AoA.

And if the weather has stopped the ferries, then what is the solution for someone right now going from Imagination to the Dolphin and they find out there's no ferry service because of weather when they get to the IG?
