Osborne Christmas lights to EPCOT?

LED lights aren't that expensive when it comes to electricity. And doesn't Disney generate their own electricity?

How much did your Display cost? trying to convince my family to switch to LED but they think it "costs to much". My argument is that it will cut on the electric bill and pay itself back.

I'm not really sure to be honest, we've been buying the lights for years so it gradually grew. We also get a lot of them on clearance right after christmas. So I honestly don't really know. And like the other stuff like Stars that blink, and Snowflakes, ect, we built so I'm not really sure. I'm sure Disney can't be paying that much for the lights, because you can get them in bulk for pretty cheap I'm sure. The LED lights last really long, and they also sell industrial strength LED lights. I know a lot of people are saying Disney must be replacing lights yearly, but we've had most of the sets of lights for 3-4 years. We start putting up the lights early November, like right after Halloween, but we don't start running them till Thanksgiving. So not sure if it's the one less month that's saving our lights. But I think saying Disney was replacing tons of sets every year is being dramatic.

I'm sure they'd love. I think they're already trying with Holidays Around The World.

Did they leave the food/drink kiosks up last year? Retheme some of them? I thought they might have but not sure ... I guess I'm giving them ideas :/ lol

That's exactly how mine is. We go after Christmas buy lights on clearance and such. I have also built plenty of things for my display. I have only had to replace LED lights that have gotten chewed by rabbits otherwise they work great. I also start putting mine up in early November and then don't start running until the day after Thanksgiving then shut them off around Dec. 30th-Jan 1st.

Martin did state that they have to cut some down with a knife, but i would think that it only requires some electrical work to get them running again. Used to take me about 2 days to put up the lights (by myself) Now it takes about a week and a half by myself (Would love to them dance).

They had some of the food and wine kiosks stay for holidays around the world.

Yep pretty much the same here. We keep them running till about the 6th, or basically whenever we get a chance to start taking them down. I doubt Disney has any plans of bringing them back as they'd have to start going up next month if it was on the same scale, and I really don't think they want to.

Hmm that's interesting, I wonder why they'd have to cut them down by a knife. We bought one of those boxes that sync them for you at Home Depot a couple years ago. Our displays getting a little big for that box but we haven't made the investment for a computer system and stuff yet.

I wish they would setup a Christmas village like in Nuremberg next to empty lot in Germany during Holidays. But of course they couldn't use the word "Christmas" village.

I liked them, but I'd like to see something else now, something new and uncommon. When Osborne began it was a big deal, this guy and his family doing all this stuff. So, I believe, that "we" need to get beyond this now. "We" should demand more from the highly touted Disney imagineers.

I just don't understand your issue with putting Osburne lights in an area that nothing was going on rest of the year except for a few carts and a store. It's not about being creative. It's was an amazing show( and they aren't everywhere) that was tradition for many families that visited WDW during holiday season. Because that particular holiday season has always been ruled by tradition. It doesn't lend it's self to change things up every year. And you last sentence is a joke right?
