I get that and you are entitled to your opinion but what's the reason for not liking them? that's the part I don't get

Never said I didn't like them.

It's quite amazing how easily many of you slipped right into mischaracterizng my initial post, and what I do and do not like.

We all understand that ye are entitled to ye own opinion, and we respect that, but at the end of the day, the majority would like to see some sort of replacement for DHS maybe at EPCOT, but ye have to respect are opinion as well and not get ye britches in a wad when ye hear something ye don't want to hear. Savy?

Okay then I'm confused. Why wouldn't you want the lights if you like them?

As I said. Time to move on.

Liking and wanting are two different things. Each capable of separate existence.

I like tigers. I do not want a tiger.

And then, some people want things so that others cannot have them. Their liking is of the possession of the thing, not of the thing itself.

I wonder what the cost was to purchase the lights each and every year for 20 years... I mean, I'm sure they got a discount. But still, it has to be quite a decent amount. Someone earned a lot of airline miles each year on their card! LOL

I'd guess buying the lights cost less than what is cost to power them. Maybe not so much since they changed to LED, but in the scheme of things to WDW, not so much.

And even with the switch to LED bulbs, it's was probably almost preventative maintenance to just swap them out each year. According to these guys -> https://www.christmasdesigners.com/how-long-do-led-christmas-lights-last/ even pro-grade lights will only last 24-30 months if left out year round. So figure the 4-5 months they were up in the FL weather, being used for what, 5-6 hours a day for 3 months, easier to just replace them all than worrying about something killing one of the strands. Kind of like when they used to track when light bulbs were installed and swap them out at 80% life. Makes for good show when everything works instead of worrying about something possibly dying.

I have no problem with moving on. I'm excited for things to come to DHS but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want the lights to appear elsewhere if they could. I do my own lights display set to music, sure it's not on the scale of Osborne as its only around 12,000 lights and I know of plenty of other displays that rival Osborne. However I wish Disney could still have something special for Christmas at DHS to keep a draw during the holidays.

I've heared whisperings and rumors that the Osborne lights or some sort of Christmas lights extravaganza could possibly make its way to EPCOT, seeing that it is done for good in DHS. Has anyone else heared anything about this?

No. But not going to happen. There is no "backlot" where that could be done.

Astronomy? You're wrong, and that's not the subject
I know, that's fine. They were pretty. I like Christmas. I like light.
I'm not wrong, you just disagree.

Hey people, I expressed my opinion, you don't like it, that's on you not me.

Nah, you chill. Accept that not everyone wants to see these lights come back. Just a fact.

Why so defensive if it's just your opinion? An opinion by definition cannot make you right and me wrong -
We just have differing viewpoints.

But wait, you said it was a fact...

You're more than welcome to have an opinion. In fact, I'm sure most people here would welcome it! Encourages good discussion. You realize you are being rude and hypocritical though.
We need to get beyond staring wide eyed at a bunch of lights.
Why? This initial post that stared it all implies that there is something wrong with people enjoying something that you don't want.

it would be nice to have a holiday display of some kind at DHS. But Disney will be promoting Star Wars: Rogue One big time at that park since it opens mid December.
