Jungle Cruise Altered After Recent Tragedy

While I think it's a good idea for them in the short term not to acknowledge the elephant (or crocodile) in the room, I hope this censorship won't be stay for the long term as news of this horrific event fades since that will only create another elephant in the room for future generations.

Can you copy and paste the article you're trying to link to, since it's on a forbidden site? Or summarize what they're saying? And is it fact or opinion?

Here it is
In response to these recent events, Walt Disney World today cut all jokes related to children and crocodiles from the Jungle Cruise attraction at the Magic Kingdom. Among the jokes, the attraction famously asked parents to “watch their children, or the crocodiles will."

Essentially, they're cutting out any jokes involving crocodiles and children. You know stuff like "Watch your kids or else the crocodiles will"

That's an obvious decision that I'm glad wasn't overlooked.

I'd be completely fine if this joke went away forever. It's not hilariously funny. A quick gag is what I guess I'd call it. Now it's the opposite of funny for those who know of the incident. The joke can be replaced.

As long as the attraction overall doesn't lose its humor, I'm fine.

I sure hope that we don't follow the usual over-reaction route and start to hide all events connected with nature because of this. It is terrible for the family and it is shocking for us, but, it is part of life. It's a part of life that we don't want to think about, but, being reminded might make us be a little more cautious. Apparently, the knowledge that these animals were dangerous was figured out long ago when Peter Pan was first introduced. There is nothing new about what happened other then where it happened and how shocking it is to have anything like that happen in WDW.

In all seriousness, Hubby asked me if the HM stretching room portrait might also be altered.

I was thinking about that before...I think there will be some sensitivity to seeing it with this tragedy fresh in people's mind, and the look of it would be sombering, but I don't think they'd change it. However, I understand the removal of a line or two from JC is proper.

I hope they don't change the painting in the HM or the Peter Pan scene. If anything, that will just make people keep thinking about the tragedy because they'll notice something is missing. Yes it's important to remember what happened so that it not happen again, but if Disney removes these things, then people will just talk about it even more and it'll backfire as they say how the company is trying to make us forget about it. Taking out the JC joke about alligators, though, I think is a good idea since the incident is so fresh in our minds.

Also, isn't there's section of Port Orleans resort called Alligator Bayou? If so, I wonder what they'll do about that, if anything.

And don't forget the alligator in Splash Mountain. And as mentioned, Peter Pan (technically a croc) and in the HM stretching room. Anything else? Any alligators at Animal Kingdom?

Not saying they should take any action here, but there are definitely reminders of the recent tragedy all over the place.

Really they should just ban all reptiles. Except turtles (i.e. the cat of reptiles).

Hopefully within a month the jokes will be back. Kind of like how long is long enough until we can joke again.

I don't think they would bring back that joke. Someone will try to sue Disney by saying that they were emotionally distraught or something for being reminded of the tragedy. I'm not even trying to joke right now.
