I don't miss the days when I lived in my own apartment and had to chisel my car. We only have a one car garage now, but hubby has a remote starter on his car so he can warm it up and get most of the stuff off or at least loose before he goes out. Actually he just got a new car (a Cruze) and he can start his car with an app on his phone.

By the way, we are currently at -6, and it is supposed to get to be about -11 tonight. Have I mentioned how much I love my electric blanket?
Oh that's way too cold. We have a heated mattress pad, dual controls....hubby has never turned his side on.

All I can say is here I am almost 68 years old, overweight and I just finished walking all over Europe. Believe me, it made any time I have spent at WDW seem like a casual stroll. No blisters, no muscle pain. I did at one point tell my sister that this experience was either going to fix whatever problem I have with my leg or make me a cripple. So far... all is good.

BTW, my eye problem has seemed to resolve and I am done with this experience, at least for now. If I get any type of positive news about the cancer thing, I will be scheduling the other eye as soon as possible. I didn't think it would ever clear up, but, it has and I can see well now and don't need glasses for anything other then reading and even that has improved.
I'm glad to hear that your eye is doing really well. Here's hoping you get good news from the doctor about your cancer. BIL had that surgery, and the Doc put him on Viagra to keeps things in working order. There is life around 70.;)

We ran into this when my DS was up to buy a car last year looking at the year before models to save some money. He'd find them on website, call and make sure they were available and when we'd get there they were not available or he didn't meet the criteria of a trade in or financing with them to purchase the 'ghost' auto. Finally he contacted a girl he grew up with, her Dad/Family owns a dealership. He wasn't looking for a deal just someone to deal with that didn't play bait and switch kinda game. The car he was looking at was there. They let just him and I go off on our own and drive it. Came back, he wrote a check for the whole thing and off he drove off the lot with it. I hate buying cars.
The only car I'm looking forward to buying is the self driving car. Now that would be great for me.;)

So I am currently in the market to replace all the furniture and appliances that Mr. Donkey is taking with him. I've figured out most of what I want, but need to do research on the refrigerator and washer/dryer. Is GE still a good brand? When I look on the Sears website, they still get lots of positive reviews.
That's so funny, we never had good luck with G.E. We like Sears, but I guess it's more about luck instead of brand any more.

It is all perspective to me to what I will pay more for. Generally I will pay ridiculous amounts of money for a night in a hotel room at WDW. It is insane for the amount of time I spend in the room. Still I do it. I have a line I draw in the sand for what I will pay for one meal at WDW. Sleep to me is coveted and I have issues with both arthritis and falling asleep in general. If a good pillow that lasts me 5 years it is worth the few cents a day. My mattress is equally important. If I tally all the hours I spend asleep over the 8 years for a mattress it is worth it to me. But some can fall asleep with any 'ole pillow and sleep just fine on a cheap mattress and wake up refreshed and pain free.
I'm the same about my mattress, having ruptured 3 discs in my back and the resulting arthritis, I need a good firm mattress. Ours was pricey but I don't wake up with a backache anymore. I go to bed when my back starts failing me during the evening, so I spend more hours in bed than most people.

One of my favorite Bowie stories. Bowie agrees a duet recording with Bing only because his Mom loved Bing but refused to sing the Little Drummer Boy Bing had chosen 'cause he hated the song. In about an hour was Peace on Earth Little Drummer Boy. Recorded with little rehearsal for the recorded Christmas Special in September. While before my era I always admired Bing's voice especially Christmas Carols. The song back when I was a young teen became a staple because Bing passed away in October before Christmastime and of course it was Bowie. And Bowie's Mom got a duet of her son and Bing for Christmas. The Christmas Special did air but was kinda sad with Bing being gone.

Listened to it again this morning, thinking about Bowie today. It is funny to watch Bowie moving away from Bing, you can tell he is trying to hear himself and then to watch Bing looking into Bowie's face as he is trying to stay in sync with Bowie with neither of them having any real rehearsal time to be comfortable doing this duet.

I'm afraid to have the eye procedure done.

1) I would hate seeing what the doctors are doing

2) Slim chance you can go blind

I hate carry my glass case to theme park. Taking them off, putting them in the case then putting it back on again. Same thing at the gym. I can't workout with glasses on so my eyes can see but everything afar is blurry.
You won't go completely blind... they only do one eye at a time.

My surgery was for Cataracts. I was completely undrugged except for numbing agents in my eye itself. I honestly could not see anything that they were doing. My head was held stationary and even though I could move my eyes I never felt the need too. I felt nothing either, not even pressure (which is one of a doctors favorite phrases). In fact, except for a very brief time after the numbing worked its way out did a bit of pain (more like a grain of sand in your eye), but, even that wasn't much. I just got frustrated about how long it took for my eye to start functioning in any "normal" way and just when it did, they told me I might have an infection on my cornea from a scratch and no one could figure how it got there.

I don't have any bad memories of Jr high or high school in a personal sense. In spite of being overweight and painfully shy, I guess my parents instilled a strong sense of self worth in me, so consequently I was never wounded by comments. Completely oblivious to them. My Jr. high years were in a Catholic school or what I like to call my hell time on earth, that much I remember, but, I don't have any retained thoughts of personal misery from other students.

Yea, I don't remember any hellish times in JH or HS either.
I had friends in all groups...nerds/geeks, freaks (hippies), jocks, kickers (cowboys), etc. :)

I have always wanted to visit NOLA. I'm now thinking our 50 anniversary should be something other than Disney. I just can't decide where, as we have been many places due to hubby's work. I'm looking at Austin, I love the river walk, or Nola, never have been there. I can't do Europe by plane, I have leg circulation problems. We are close to Yellowstone, but hubby says the hotels there are not the best. He had mice running around in his sink at night!:hilarious:

If y'all have never been there y'all should do it at least once. It's really a neat city in so many ways.
Aside from the French Quarter, there's the Garden District, plenty of great places to eat, music, bus tours, boat tours, etc., and much more. We wanna' go back again in the next few years...! :)
