Harry Caray's simply amazing Thanksgiving feast. Aged rib eye steak. Slurp.

The parades have been very much infomercials for a decade. When my kids were small the parade was on Christmas morning. It made the Magic Kingdom crazy but is was very much a parade of WDW. Back then I wondered if Disneyland and the Western States aired a their own parade or saw a time delay of WDW.

On Christmas morning we'd eat at Ohana and Monorail past the MK look down at all the nuttiness and head to Epcot. Epcot was always peaceful on Christmas Day.
That looks delicious. :)

Good to see you. Was just thinking we hadn't seen you in a while. Hope all went well with band. Prepare those kids, and then send some of them over our way for college. :joyfull:

Nothing has changed over here. Besides perhaps more cat pictures.

Sent four of our kids your way this year. A couple of them just visited the high school last week and were telling me how much they were enjoying college! I also might cruise through some in the Spring - I may be a ringer with the concert band.

Sounds like you've still got alot on your plate but it's great that it's something that you're passionate about. Have a magical trip, you're so lucky to go over the holidays.

Love going during the holidays. We are quite used to crowds (as two teachers, we only go in peak season) and will have a great time!

Welcome back, and happy holidays to you!! :)

Thanks!

Nice to see you too! Not sure we met as I am a relative newbie to the thread but be sure to stick around and play with us!

You'll have to go back a couple thousand pages and into the 'old' iteration of this thraed to find much of my evidence.

What is your main instrument?

Depends on the day. Had a trombone performance last night. Have a euphonium performance tonight. Playing jazz bass for two gigs next week and jazz piano the following week. Currently preparing and practicing for a big piano gig in February. Those are the instruments I fail to make much money with! I make my real money (yup, sarcasm intact) waving my arms while the teenagers play the instruments!

Day 8 of the Adventure.... October 27

A little back story on this day. When my sister originally talked about seeing all the stuff to see in Rome on our own, armed only with a map and good shoes, I kinda balked at the idea. Having been there before I remembered how big Rome was and felt that we would be spending all our time just finding places instead of seeing them. Anyway, she decided that it would be a good idea to get involved with a tour type situation, I agreed completely. She sent me an itinerary and it included most of the highlights. What I didn't notice was that it was a walking tour, but, OK, no big deal as long as we had someone that knew how to get places and then explain the background for what we were seeing. With that in place we headed out to take the subway and meet up with the tour just outside of the Colosseum. It was a two part tour starting with the Colosseum and Roman Ruins with a break and then resuming at the Spanish Stairs and other locations. It didn't exactly turn out the way we had expected it. The tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Ruins (Forum) was well done, and as expected, a great deal of walking. When we ended Part 1, the tour guide stopped at the highest point of the Forum and said that this was the end of this part, thank you's for taking this tour, tips are accepted. I had never been on a tour that didn't take you back to your starting point, but, I cannot say that anymore.

By then it was lunch time so we found a nice corner restaurant, had our obligatory fill of pasta and ventured out trying to find our way to the Spanish Stairs. I know they are there in Rome, but, I still do not know where in Rome. We never found them. (not to worry, we found and traversed many others that rivaled them for quantity if not fame) We forfeited that half of our tour fee because by the time we even got close (I think) we were way past the starting time and would have missed it.

So we walked and walked and walked some more hoping to find some of the stuff on our own. We had no luck. We would ask directions and be told which why to go, always followed by "it's a two minute walk". Either time runs a lot slower in Europe the it does in the states or that is the only phrase that was taught in tour school. We never found anything no matter how far we walked or how many two minute intervals we attempted to walk. We finally gave up, found the subway and made our way, exhausted, back to our apartment.

By this time it was evening rush hour and the subways, to say the least, were very "cozy". We were all close enough that you could tell what religion people were. At one point, a lady tapped me on the shoulder and pointed down. Low and behold, there was my wallet. I found a way to pick it up and could see that nothing was missing, but, it didn't just jump out of my pocket. I suspect that someone tried to lift it and accidentally dropped it on the floor. Whatever, I was happy to be reunited with it.

Enough of the storybook. How about some pictures of what we did see?

That will do it. My philosophy is... if you've seen one ruin you've seen them all. Frankly, I see a ruin every time I look in a mirror. However, don't lose faith, in a couple of days we will return to our quest to find things, but, first we have some other things to see and do.

Thought I'd pop back in here for a few minutes. Hubby is out at a Thanksgiving Day road race for a few hours; his running time is usually pretty good, so I'm looking forward to seeing how his placement is this year. :)

Since our Thanksgiving restaurant feast isn't until this afternoon, I decided to bake a pumpkin bread this morning, and I also made a stove-top cranberry chutney. Needless to say, my dog, Jack, was underfoot. He was in shock, I think, as I don't cook or bake that often. He had this blank look on his face with every little spice jar I'd open (although that may also have something to do with me cursing the "safety seal" on all those stupid little jars. They're a pain in the neck to open. :banghead: )

Had to open up a box of raisins and it was sealed, too--so I open up the top of the box with a knife, and the box slips, and raisins go flying all over the kitchen table and floor. Now, Jack was elated at the sight of airborne food, and he dove for every raisin on the floor!! Luckily, the box was large enough, that half the raisins were still inside, which was more than enough for the chutney recipe.

When the pumpkin bread was done in the oven, I took it out to cool on a rack. But I think I took it out of the pan too soon, (maybe it's supposed to cool in the pan a bit?) because it sort of broke into thirds when I tried to put it on the rack. :( I know it was cooked through as I tested it while it was in the oven, with a knife that came out clean. Cooking. Ugh.
At least you tried. Definitely let baked bread cool in the pan. If you're worried about it sticking, "Pam for baking" works great. It will sometimes be frothy when you spray it. I use a rubber spatula (or my finger) to spread it around the pan. :)

Glad to hear the kids who have come over our way are enjoying college! And that they're not completely stressed out (yet)

I haven't seemed to have had that problem, lately.
From my desktop at the office, I bring up the image I want with a left click. Then, I left click on it again to bring it up in a different window. Then, I simply right click on the image and choose copy, go back to my post, put the cursor were I want it, then right click and choose paste. Done.
From my iPhone, I tap the image to bring it up, then tap it again to bring it up in a different window. Then, I hold my finger down on the image until "save image", "copy", "cancel" comes up. I choose "save image" to save it to my photo album. Then, I go back to my post and go the "Upload a file" route. Done.
Works with all the GIFs I've tried too.
Simple as pie...!!! :joyfull: ;) :)
Don't say easy as pie. I can bake a good pie, but I don't have a clue what you are talking about!;):D:rolleyes:
