You can add your lettuce to mine.Sounds good. I'll leave out the lettuce though. I like salads but I don't like lettuce on sandwiches, strange I know.

Looked real to me! Are you saying it wasn't? Was Pedro lying for over 100 miles?You mean fake Mexico?
In spring we seeded the main field with 3 different types of grass seed and then over seeded with oats to keep the weeds out (a scientific experiment). We just got the oats off and the grass hay that was underneath looks fantastic! They are coming next week to grab the straw (left over oat stalks) and then we will let all the grass grow for a few weeks and then we should be able to make a barnful of hay bales! Hopefully, no more worrying about how and where to get hay every year!Yay, doing the happy dance now!

I always loved stopping at those (shell shops, as we called them), due to a whole pile of conch shells out front. I bought one, and listened to the "ocean" using that shell, when I missed Florida. Good times, Gabe thanks for reminding me of the earlier times.

In knowledge there is strength. You're welcome!I really like it when you share farm stories. It's so different from where I live, and I find your various chores make for fascinating reading. (Although, I must say it's pleasant to sit here and read about your activities, while drinking coffee, knowing that I won't have to put in all that hard labor, like you did!![]()
)
It's amazing what we learn on these forums. However, I draw the line on learning new interesting facts, @Goofyernmost , about where one can buy pig faces . . .![]()

It's not really a truck stop, it's more of a family stop that truckers used. After driving for hours on I-95 it was a wonderful diversion. The old signs were funnier then the new ones and many were animated and there were more of them. You can even buy a coffee table book with full color pictures of all the signs that lined the highway. Now I will concede that to actually stop there was just a little disappointing, but, in the 80's it was a roadside attraction that many people loved. Up in the northeast we used to see hundreds of South of the Border bumper stickers on cars that had made the stop.Those bloody signs....all for a stupid truck stop. When I saw it for the first time from the highway. It was like that's it! A big stupid hat.
Hey, thanks for the update. I'm glad that you found a mix that works and gives him a nice shiny coat. We thought we had a blend with giving her a little Beneful (something we wanted to get her off of) and the Iams (the vet recommened). She was eating it up, and now she picks out the Beneful pieces and leaves the other!She sure is a picky girl! I don't know what we will do....

I actually only stopped once and that was when my wife and my girls need to use the bathroom. When we found out that it cost a quarter to use the bathroom, it was our last stop. Although, I used to stop there and buy raw peanuts on the way home once in a while.
Pretty sure @Cesar R M does not live in SCLooked real to me! Are you saying it wasn't? Was Pedro lying for over 100 miles?
Might have been a land grant used to end the Spanish/American War. Hey, it could happen.Pretty sure @Cesar R M does not live in SC
Sarcasm aside, do you know how super excited this makes me? I mean, I'd be jumping up and down, but I'm in the middle of Tomorrowland and would look very silly doing so.Pretty sure @Cesar R M does not live in SC
Never been there (never drove down South), but that sounds like a really fun place! You see, I love the old-style roadside stops (both little and bigger roadside food/rest stops). Those places had so much "character" and the sometimes the patrons were also as "interesting" . . .But really, I do miss those kind of individual road stops along 93, 95 and Route 1 in the Northeast.
Oh, do you remember the Howard Johnsons along the highways up North? The ice cream "world of 28 flavors" !!

Don't want you to miss out, so maybe you could check out the website. The home page has a slide show of some of the signs along I-95.
