Hey, wasn't the Industrial Age back in the 1800s? o_O Heck, it wasn't that long ago that they stopped giving out sample bags of dog food!! :D

Most Vet's will tell ya to not abruptly change a Pups food. Mix the two over a week and a half gradually increasing the amount of new food so it doesn't mess with their digestive system. Oh course some of these pups have cast iron tummies and nothing bothers them, Walt isn't one of them.

It's been crazy up here all day. We had thunderstorms early this morning and then it cleared up. We had a couple storms roll around us and the weather radio was giving alerts. The thunder was so strong it was rattling the windows, but we got nothing. A friend from 5 miles away said he had ping pong ball sized hail at his place from one of them. Then about 2 hours ago we had heavy rain and high winds move through. The sun is back out now... Really crazy weather patterns lately! The good news is that we did get the hay off the field and into the barn before it got wet. We're supposed to get the oats and straw off this week - weather permitting.

Good Luck! And stay safe. These have been some huge storms. Where we got hail we only got enough rain to make Walt's outdoor bed wet, can't even measure it but when it cools off I'll have to go out on branch pick up duty.

We are currently feeding our pups Merrick Grain Free chicken, which they seemed to do fine on for several years now, but then we heard that the sweet potatoes in it could be contributing to one of our doggies' skin issues, so I looked for something else and decided to go with NutriSource Grain-Free chicken (although we haven't started feeding it to them yet, as we're finishing up the last bag of the old stuff, but will most likely start mixing new stuff in this week).

We've never fed our furry babies any of the "big commercial" brand foods, mainly because they usually consist of by-products and grain. But yes, when it comes to "higher end" brands, they're all more or less the same in regard to quality and consistency. As @Wrangler-Rick points out, companies change formulas quite often and the only way you find out is by how your dog/cat reacts to it or asking the pet store staff. It can be rather frustrating. :banghead:

What is going on with the Pups skin?

In The News: I had a good/bad day today. First the Bad... Today I was informed that I have prostate cancer. Then the good... it's not at a point where they think I need to do anything about it and that it might develop or it might just stay at the semi-dormant stage for a long time. We are going into monitor mode. So although it's not good news, it's not the worst I could get either. Just not a great thing to tell anyone on the day after their birthday.

My sincerest sympathies.
And my apologies for being so far behind. Prostate cancer is such a crazy thing, and they never really seem to know for sure how it will progress.
My pop, now 82, was diagnosed with it about 15 years ago. They said it was "encapsulated" and removed it. Never even had to have any chemo.
Prayers to you for all the best.
I have a feeling you're gonna' kick it's a$$...! ;)

So we went to our Animal Services to renew some of our animals registration and the gal who helped us had this on the back of her computer.

He just gets these rashes, not too bad, and doesn't seem to bother him too much, but it's noticeable.

I had a pup that did the rash thing too. She became allergic to both the grass and the shampoo on rugs.

The best thing I found to calm the skin is Neutrogena T/Gel Shampoo Original Formula. It makes your hands feel so nice too.
Need to let is sit on them for about 10 15 minutes
