That is really sad to see. Does anyone know, if people babies are having defects too? That doesn't look good for people living in the nuclear age.
I dont think this is a problem of "people living in the nuclear age".
Its things that should not happen to finally happen.

All things that could go wrong.. piled at same time on Japan.

a) The affected reactors were supposed to be "shut down" a month earlier for decommission.
TEPCO pulled for extending the reactor life (the reactor walls might have had a lot of wear and tear).
b) The Tsunami protection walls were not up to the task to stop these enormous 12 meter tall waves. Way more than they were designed to stop.
c) While the building stood.. The generators were on grounds.. where damaged by the 12 meter wall waves and the entire area rattled by the 9 quake.
e) shutting down the reactors + no generators = no way to pump water.
f) the lies of TEPCO (classic Japanese thing, because they really fear about damaging their reputation) on both the damage on the reactor, the failure of the contention walls.. cracks on the concrete walls and taking too long to accept third party help (including military and USA's help)
g) shoddy maintenance issues in the "emergency" systems (like the failure of the heavily radiated water ponds)
f) the really stupid idea of Japan to be split into 2 different power systems (south west is 60Hz, north east is 50 Hz f I remember correctly).
Thus there was no backup power in any way for many cities and the plant itself. over-stressing the few non nuclear plants that were working.

It's a "some dads" thing. ;)
I for sure know our 3 kiddos b-days and how old they all are. Heck, I even remember what time each of them were born and how much each weighed. :)
And, I can certainly spell all of their full names. :D
Maybe it's a senior thing. Mom called us all by the wrong things when she got older, dad didn't use our names, much. I find I'm doing that with the Grandson's. And I hate that. I'm taking a page from dad's book....hi guys!:joyfull:

You have obviously studied the failures, thanks for the information. I learned a lot about all the things that can go wrong.

The interesting part is.. I was playing a game when the quake happened (very late night)
And when noticed that there were alerts of Tsunami everywhere (including my country).

Then the next days was pure fear about both the Tsunami and the Nuclear Plants.

Time out for me. Nap time....Won't be checking in early tomorrow....hubby and I am driving to the mountains, going on a train ride to a old abandoned mining town, and going in to a defunct silver mine. I'm so happy to be doing this day trip. You all have a great day tomorrow! xoxo
time for a nap for me as well.

You all take care!
I'm not sure how this relates to anything else we have been discussing, but, is anyone besides me having trouble on this site with slow and jumpy reaction?
Slow? no, Jumpy? yes.
Its like they added some sort of script that slowed down my browse considerably.
It seems less slow now.. but I still see big jumps of processor usage only on wdwmagic.

Not sure if its related to my browser (Mozilla Firefox)
