Nope. Black screen with text that says...

"Boot Device Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

Hard Disk (3F0)

F2 System Diagnostics

For more information, please visit: www. blah, blah, blah....."

Have no clue when or how the operating system would have been "uninstalled" on the hard disk right in the middle of using the computer...!?
no, it simply means the hard disk was either not detected, or your OS boot system (the part in the hard disk that tells the computer how the data is split and ordered in the surface) is corrupted.

These kind of errors were kinda common in the first years of windows Vista and rarely on 7. Easily fixed by inserting the installation DVD, and running a diagnostic and then running the REPAIR BOOT option.

if its the first problem.. then might be a bit more severe.. probably hardware error (hard disk about to die, or a loose/damaged data cable)

Thanks! :) Now, to see if I can find that disk... o_O ;)
I've been meaning to talk to my son-in-law, who is an IT guy for Apple, but, just haven't gotten around to it, yet.
If the disk doesn't work I'll give him a shout, and see if there's anything he can do.
Thanks again for your input...! :)

Hey I was 50 pounds heavier back in the day. :)

Yes, I'm just too old to be carrying around all that extra weight. And, of course, I feel better.
I was pretty heavy back when I was in my mid-thirties, as well, and decided to lose a bunch of weight then, too. I got down to as low as 180-ish. Dwifey was tellin' me I was gettin' too thin, and the doc was tellin' me I still needed to lose 10 pounds...! :hilarious:

good thing I'm in the opposite side of the state. so no chance for damage for my town.
The bad? events like these means a quake is imminent in the next years.
