Some of the British candy bars we brought home. The mint Aero is amazing, like an Andes mint but lighter.

One of the better pictures of the Rosetta Stone I could get at the British Museum. There were hoards of people around it.

Fabulous as always! I can't believe you posted a picture of the Rosetta stone as it's something I remember writing a paper about at school. Thank you

Yes, I also miss Borders. They were in the malls and in other locations. As for B&N, ours also has a lot of Nook space (I could care less about those). What great news that your library is expanding!! Our local library is falling apart; it's not the collections, it's the building because it's so old.
I also miss Borders, but not for books! They never seemed to have the book I wanted, but did always have a good deal on movies. I'm not saying I never got books there. Most of my Disney books came from there.

Thank you Betty. You are very kind.
I've been sick all week. Nothing major - just a summer cold, but with swollen glands, mild fever and a wicked sore throat.
Finally feeling a bit better today. Just in time to go to the memorial service of a dear, dear man, on what would have been his 93rd birthday.
RIP Harvey, a true darling in every sense.
Sympathy like! I'm glad you're feeling better, I hope today is even better so you can enjoy summer.

I am so sorry about your friend, Harvey; you have my deepest sympathy. I will be thinking of you, and I hope you get better everyday.

Is the award for me? Thanks!

The bangers (sausages) and mash at the Rose and Crown in Epcot are served with bubble and squeak. I guess it is something with cabbage and since I don't like cabbage I get it without. I never saw bubble and squeak on a menu in London although I guess I wasn't really looking.

I had bubbles and squeak once, when I was staying at a Scottish bed and breakfast (not overseas--it was in New Hampshire). It did have cabbage, potatoes and some carrots and something else, and it's all cooked together. I wasn't a fan of it, but that's because I don't like cabbage. It was served as a side dish to whatever entree I had that evening. I always thought the origins of bubbles and squeak were Scottish, but maybe it's actually British.

Just got back from a late dinner/early breakfast with DWifey and our 3 kiddos.
We spent the evening at a swim party for the pediatric cancer non-profit that both our DD's are now on the BoD of.
Such incredible stories of survival, but, also, so much pain.
Just so proud of both of them for wanting to help others going through such incredibly difficult times.

Out for now, gang...
The sweetest of dreams to all...!
Laterrrrrrr...!!! :)

You and DWifey have raised two lovely daughters. Their kindness and generosity reflects directly on the both of you, and the caring examples you've practiced.

Sorry, it seems I offended, when I didn't mean too. Here is me and hubby's experiences. In the late 60's after we were married, hubby had to check out a substation, for work, I went along.....driving back from the substation.....our car lost all power, before us in the road was a glowing cigar shaped light, no matter what hubby tried to do...our car was dead. The glowing light took off at extremely fast speed, and then all the car operations, came back on. Still, to this day we don't know what happened. Years later we moved to Kansas,, while we were resting on the deck, we saw something like and orb. It was reported that night that people had saw a UFO, in our area...the military closed the road around us...and took something away. covered by a tarp, on a semi trailer truck bed. The news had pictures of them hauling away something. We didn't say anything, because when you see something you can't explain you are afraid. When we moved to Colorado, we lived near the foothills, not any more....the person that owned the home before us, worked at Martin Marietta. It seems he left some crazy systems , wires, and stuff , in the basement. We didn't know what they were for....so we didn't touch them. Again, I was on the deck.....looking at the mountains...something I have loved to do since I moved here. During the afternoon, I saw a , ....a flying saucer. It was rocking back and forth in front of the foothills. Suddenly, 2....F 15'''s appeared...they surrounded it....it took off like a light, the F 15's couldn't keep up. About three days later the military came to my house, an Air Force person, in full uniform.....asked about what we had in the basement. Of course I couldn't tell them....they told us to take it out immediately, which we did....nothing after that ever happened. What the Martin Marietta person was doing, we will have no clue. They moved out of State, the neighbor's said they were very odd. Just our experiences. I have no explanation, as to what happened.

Wow. This has got to be the coolest thing I've read in a very long time!! The details are fascinating on quite a few levels. I was also intrigued by the fact that the military people (you mentioned in a later post about this same subject) said it would be a good idea to remove whatever (equipment, etc.) was left in your basement, by the former resident who worked for Martina Marietta, so that the jets wouldn't land there?!! Amazing.
