Hi all.

Landed at 2:30 local time (8:30 Eastern). Finally got in our room about 30 minutes ago. There is free Wifi here, so I can check in. Going to dinner in a few. Thoroughly exhausted; I only got two hours of actual sleep on the plane ride here. Got to watch the new Cinderella on the plane; loved it.

You'll probably hear from me sometime tomorrow. Ya know, after I've gotten some actual sleep.

Hope you sleep well tonight. Can't wait for updates.

I'm not as young as I used to be. I actually feel that now is the last time in my life I will have any resemblance of "youngish". The good news is that I'm not this skinny little twerp I once was. The bad news is that now it would do me some good to actually loose a few pounds.

So, tomorrow, I'll introduce Pebbles (my cat) to my grandmother's chihuahua and her cat Tiffany, and begin the process of conditioning her (Pebbles) to her new home at my grandmother's condo (where my mom also lives). Pebbles demands constant attention. I hope this works out!

OMG... Ten more days until I leave the continent!

What have I don't so far to prepare?

I bought an Apple Watch.

Tomorrow I'm getting a hair cut.

I haven't yet started to pack. I've done really nothing as far as preparations go. I don't even have a plan on what I'll be doing in Israel for six months, other than my plan to see Europe when I leave.

Wow. Am I really doing this? I have butterflies in my stomache thinking about the sheer veracity and scale of this endeavor.

Is it egotistical for me to be so confident in my ability to be spontaneous and to problem solve and to feel at ease in face of the fact that I will be in a foreign land very far away for a half a year without knowing where I will be staying and what I will be doing for most of that time (other than a very generalized idea of what I would like to do)?

I think starting tomorrow, the stress in preparing will actually start creeping.

in other news.. today was insane.. I had to get my car for repairs again.
they insist the engine mounts are not bad, but the engine twists awful ( I seen the mechanic stress test)
they think its the gearbox and the breaks.. we'll see.
but thats not the bad part..
The bad part is.. my mothers jeep started to fail an hour after we left the first car..
and I had an urgent appointment to remove my stitches.. not fun.
So I went there.. got my stitches out.. then to a mechanic.
It seems the engine has some oil blockage and they have to clean the entire engine.
So.. now we have no cars for the full weekend + 1 day (because they only work half day on saturday).

Worst part.. was to use 2 buses and a lot of walking to get back home.
The walking went kinda bad.. I hurt my bad leg again :/
Just when I was recovering.. bleergh


so.. thats the rant of today.

not as much as me, I rarely eat salads.. they bore me..

Well I really want to apply, I'm sick of being asked to get in the deep sensors.. these can fry my cochlear implant..
I have to tell them again and again to I have an implant (I never had these problems in Houston Airport)
And I'm never amused to have a 2 meter tall guy touching my privates.. (particularly annoying last February at MCO.. the guy touched me way too much, and its not like you can complain.. I've heard of detention and being placed in the no fly list for complaining. Also worsened by the fact that they could NOT find an officer trained for a patdown. I had to wait there shoeless and with my stuff moving in the conveyor belt for almost 20 minutes).
The officer in question was also ****ed because he was asking for an officer again and again via radio. And there were like 4 officers doing NOTHING at the end of the conveyor belt line (after the security point).

I just wish they had private areas for the patdowns, not infront of everyone.

That's disturbing that they are not better prepared to alter the screening process, in a way that is more educated for specific medical conditions. Do you have any cochlear implant groups in Mexico (and/or the U.S.A.) that might be able to draw up some sort of proposal to submit to the TSA authorities that would allow for more reasonable screening procedures, for those with cochlear implants? (Asking a traveler with cochlear implants to get into a deep sensor is appalling.)

Actually, if a proposal was physician-driven, that might give it more credibility to get pushed through the proper channels. Have you ever mentioned any of this with your doctor, for example? I'd like to see something like a specific symbol perhaps on your driver's license, or some sort of pre-check "code" that the cochlear implant travelers could enter online while purchasing their airline ticket, that would alert the TSA people that these travelers would need to be screened in a different, (yet respectable) manner. Just a thought . . .

Cool, me too! I know we both love us some planes!
Have never flown on any of those , but, we did once fly to MCO for a WDW trip on one of the Southwest Airlines Shamu planes.
All that paint weighs a lot, though. That's why American Airlines has flown so many planes with minimal paint over the years.
Another story I once heard from my former American Airlines flight attendant sis-in-law, was that they decided to put one less olive in their first class salads, and saved $39,000 that fiscal year..!!!
Could be an urban legend, though.

You're absolutely right about the weight of the paint. I've also heard that a few times. I guess the cost of the weight over time may translate into a good marketing pay-off, though. I mean, how can you go wrong with Disney characters painted all over the aircraft??!! It sure does catch your eye, both on the ground and in lower altitudes so that people can see it!!

Wow. That sounded like a lousey day. Sounds like you're not quite ready yet for longer walks. Do you have taxis in your area, or are they not reliable and you'd have to wait too long for them to arrive? I hope you can rest your leg today. Sorry to hear that situation interfered with your medical recovery so far.

I love meat, but, I'm decidedly an omnivore, 'cause I love my veggies/salads too.
Heck, I'd eat a tree bark salad if it was covered in blue cheese dressing...!

I can think of no two items more made for each other. Tree bark combined with blue cheese dressing would fit directly and appropriately into any landfill in the country. It is even pre-decayed.

My mom has a first cousin (what that make him... my second cousin?) who lives in Netanya, Israel. I'll be staying with him and his family when I first get there. I found his house using Google Street View and it's a huge 3-story house just a few blocks walking distance from the beach! He and his family of TEN kids are orthodox and super religious. I told everyone that, while I'm staying with them, out of respect, I'll be orthodox too.

But, as soon as I get there, I'll be looking for my own place. My goal is to travel. So, I may live in Tel Aviv next, for example. After a couple months, then I'll find a place in Jerusalem, and then Haifa later on.

That's my rough plan. I'll probably need to find a job in each place I'll be living to pay my way through it all.

They opened up a Burger Fi here in Wellington, FL. I've been there three times already and the place is always PACKED! Anyone here have them where you live?
