Bingo! DW had the fried chicken. I had the meatloaf and a chocolate shake. We ate all our veggies!

Well, I was never very interested in the English even though my Father in law was born in London. (just another reason to be unconcerned). I was told all my life that our family (my name) came from Germany and you know how well Germans and the British have gotten along over the years.
Anyway, I am presently doing a Family Tree for my Grandkids and I, just last night, completed my surname family. Turns out we have been here since nearly the beginning of the colonies. The first to immigrate was born just outside London and was given a land grant of 100 acres in Massachusetts given out by the King (or Queen, whoever was in charge back then). In 1634 he and his son and pregnant wife sailed over to just outside Boston. Ironically he died within a year of arriving. There are literally pages of legal paperwork generated to get his widow the rights to the land he had been granted. She needed it to support their two children and it took 3 years for her to finally get half of his property.
Thou doest think the woman had no rights back then. She was part of his property. I have to wonder how she was able to survive those three years. Apparently someone did survive, cause here I am, living testimony that given enough time the British are able to produce a quality product.
Fortunately, we've never had any issues with DME. We check our bags here in Austin, and they show up in a timely manner at our resort room.![]()
I never thought to ask, I don't think I was even aware of family other then the ones I was currently with. But, as it turns out, they gave out very little information, even to my Mother's and Father's generation, and apparently what they did tell was made up because they didn't know either. I did know that all my grandparents except one spoke french so I naturally assumed they had come down from Quebec at some point. Turns out the one that didn't speak french was the one with the English heritage. Makes sense now.Ha! You had me hooked into the story with the wording, 'I was told all my life that our family came from Germany. Many secrets have died with both of my Grandmothers. You'd ask and get, who wants to know, why are you asking, who taught you ask questions that are not your concern. Wonder what they would have done if there was an internet back then.
Hahaaa...!
Funny thing is, we've never actually been there before, but, the décor kinda' gives it away.
Glad y'all got there safe and are enjoyin'...!
And, I may have food-swooned a little...![]()

No matter where I am going if I check luggage we all travel with one complete change of clothes, bathing suit and toiletries stuffed into a ziplock and stuffed into our own backpacks. We generally travel out on the first morning flight but once DD and I took the last flight out that time we packed jammies in that backpack too just in case. And good thing too, DME had issues that night too.

My neighbor across the road painted his garage crayola yellow today.Thankfully it sets back on his property like mine so I do not have to look at it.
So, my phone decided yesterday that it wouldn't send or receive text messages anymore. It decided weeks ago that it wouldn't ring or vibrate when I get a call message, so I decided to get a new phone. I'm sad because the old phone and I have been together since 2011, but excited to have this new phone. I got an iPhone 6, it is fun to play with some new features. It is so lightweight to, it's just mind blowing at how much power and speed these smartphones or computer phones as my friend calls them, has.
