Fine with me. I only eat the orange dole whip because I like breathing, and the pineapple is bad for breathing in my case.
Anybody check out the Boathouse menu on the food blog? Ii the prices are true.
I don't know much at all about the CBC, but I think that if they have some gov't. money to help them out, plus regular advertising revenue, that really doesn't sound all that bad to me. I mean, here in the U.S., it's all from advertising, etc. for our TV systems. (However, I don't know if the NASA channel is funded by the gov't. here.) @JenniferS , do you enjoy the CBC? I'd love to hear your review.
The BBC's model is fascinating, and (maybe?) because Britain is so much smaller than the U.S., their system works well on a smaller scale. I read in another one of your posts today that the British residents who own a TV pay an amount each year into the tax system, so that everyone can enjoy TV without commercials, etc. It's always interesting to learn about how other countries handle their business.
I suppose because I've always watched TV with commercials, I'm sort of used to it (even though they drive me nutty most of the time). If we never got gov't. funding here for TV, it probably wouldn't affect me that much. Regardless, I appreciate what you shared about the BBC and CBC here today. It was very informative, and food for thought.
Good grief . . . a steak for $115??? A crab cake for $24?? A side order of shrimp mac/cheese for $17?? No thanks.
Gosh I thought about all you guys while I was gone. We got in just before 3 a.m. last night and after being awake for almost 24 hours we have both slept almost 15 today. Wow, 83 pages to get caught up on. (And it was me teasing @Cesar R M we would have 50 for him after his trip.
)
I probably won't get to much tonight but I promise to read every post and wow I've got some stories to share. And pictures if I can figure out how to get them off my camera and onto my tablet. (So glad I have a techie sister!) Right now I'm trying to get used to being on land again.![]()
Remember how I said I wasn't getting the Into the Woods soundtrack?
That lasted about a week until the songs started going through my head.![]()
I must admit to having a soft spot for CBC. That's why it's future concerns me. I love CBC and enjoy it for what it is. CBC has had a lot of great programming over the years and it still continues to make great shows (Murdoch Mysteries is awesome) for a fraction of the budget American network shows get. However, CBC could also be so much more with the proper funding. There are many ways this could be done. I personally like the BBC model but a sudden switch to that system probably wouldn't fly with most Canadians. So CBC's budget woes go on and jobs continue to be cut. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/c...m-radio-canada-to-help-reduce-operating-costs
This promo makes me want to go back in time and watch CBC. I just love it!
I love Murdoch Mysteries.
Quite a few scenes have been filmed in my hometown.
