Yeah, this really got out of whack and I am happy to see it being corrected as it has become over the years and especially after the last recession abused. Before I opened my business I was salaried but I got overtime after 40. But if we took more time off than we were entitled to, it came off. Neither really happened much, we'd pretty much comp our own time one way or the other and I worked for a German company which gave everyone 4 weeks vacation from the first anniversary, 2 weeks sick time, 5 personal days so I was hard pressed when I added in my comp days to ever think of having my salary adjusted downward.

Yep, ya' hafta' sell them on all the assets you bring to the table and be a smart negotiator, and try to not just settle (although, sometimes, based on job market, ya' gotta' do what ya' gotta' do).
That being said, I'm also just very glad to be back doin' that thing that I do. :)
But, don't tell them that...! ;)

I didn't want to buy anything. I just wanted to play in the Marvin the Martian spaceship and do whatever the game thing was.

My DD didn't mind when I was shopping at Childrens Place back then, she'd just go off and play on the playground. I loved that place.

I wasn't as much a germaphobe back then.

Me, I flip the channel so fast when Sally Struthers comes on for Christian Charity Fund. I find those poor children exploited in the commercials for their idea of the greater good of raising money.

There's part of an old Sam Kinison stand-up routine that is so apropos to this, but, It is not appropriate to post here.

I really liked the stuff they carried in the WB Stores in the mall. It was kinda like the Mega store in DTD, a little bit of everything for everyone and that is when the Disney Stores carried great merchandise from watches, excellent books, high to low end collectibles. I so miss that.

This was a really fun store, and like you said, there was something for everyone, in a range of prices. It stunk when they pulled out of our city mall (years ago). Malls tend to bore me, and WB, Disney and book/music stores were the only places I enjoyed in a large mall. Now, all of those are gone . . .

mmmm (picks out all the almonds)

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who picks out the almonds! (I really thought I was.) I love trail mix, but why do they always put in almonds? (I only eat almonds if they are slivered; I find biting on whole almonds like trying to break hard pebbles with my teeth!) It was just last Saturday that I was in the grocery store, and I looked at every bag of trail mix (quite a few different companies make this) and all had almonds. I protest! They have got to change the recipe! :banghead:

That's funny.
I interpreted @MOXOMUMD's comment to mean that she liked almonds, and therefor picked them out to eat them all. If that's the case, then you two could easily share a bag.

If I misread that and she also hates almonds, well then, dagnabit, you two are out of luck, and I will just have to eat the whole bag myself.

not a fan of almonds either - I let DH have mine. All other nuts are fair game though.

You are correct. I'll take the almonds. You all can fight over the leftover bunny food. :)

I'm worse. I scrape off the almond slivers off my banana cream pie. Love nuts but hazelnut and almond are not among them.

Pistachios are my favorite. But they're just not the same anymore without the red dye.

My mother in law has a bowl of nuts in the shell on her counter, along with a nutcracker. Everyone loves it - including the kids.

I love Pistachios also, red, white, salted, salted & peppered, they are all mine.

Just a vent from a Cranky Old Lady (COL) - ignore if you want...

As you probably know, I'm one of seven kids. 3 of my brothers live about 30 miles from here, and the fourth lives in FL in the winter, PA in the summer. One sister lives in FL and the other lives about 120 miles away in NH. Mom has been here with us for 6 1/2 weeks now - guess who's the only sibling to visit her? yes, the one sister 120 miles away .
The first weekend that Mom was here we hosted (better known as "fed") a cookout for them all and mentioned to them all that she really likes to have company, and that at her age she won't be with us for much longer. Apparently they feel that since she doesn't remember anything from one minute to the next, it doesn't matter whether they visit her or not. Therefore in the past 6 weeks, no visits, no phone calls, nothing! She asks about them often, and frankly I'm tired of making excuses for them.

end of rant, now back to our regularly scheduled program...
