Had part 1 of my orientation this morning. Lots of boring videos and paperwork. Pretty much they could have just told me "use common sense" and I would be just as well off. I go back in on Monday to finish my orientation (I assume, she kind of had to cut me off and leave), and then I don't think I'll be able to start actual work until the 29th because they just did the schedules for the next two weeks. I did get paid for the 2.5 hours I was there today, though, and she said that's all that will be on the first paycheck.

@Cesar R M such beautiful nature photos! I love the yellow birds... so pretty. Do you know what they are?

@PUSH My apologies for the misquote. The mis..post...misquote. I wish the 'quote' function was specific to each thread instead of a giant cluster from all the threads ever. :\

Today is going to be super busy but I'm going to try and get these pics posted. Sorry yall. :\ Gonna work on that in a few... I gotta run to the social security office (AGAIN, ugh) in 45 minutes. Lame.

I honestly have no idea what their name is... I'm in no way expert. But these birds are very usual here during these days, and completely disappear during winter.
They were very rare where I lived near the Marina, but they love the empty lot and waterways where I live now (in the valley).

The red ones are the VERY illusive ones. They are outright gorgeous!!! They sport a full bright red to yellow to green tummy tones and they sort of "radiate" the color similar to how crows reflect the sun in their feathers.

Started my photo heavy post!

Unfortunately I need to leave it there for a few, I gotta get some work done and run out of the office in a bit.

Will add more to it soon :)
About time!
Gonna stalk it right now!

Don't spend it all in one place.

Chicago could soon be getting a new entertainment venue that floats on Lake Michigan. “Breakwater Chicago” is a luxury yacht that will be docked about a mile off shore and will have a pool, restaurants and sun decks.

Being currently funded by Kick Start.
I swear the artist design rendition in winter mode.. reminds me of a "buffet" tray .. but for giants ;)

:banghead:

My lunch totally sucked. I had a taco salad with edible bowl but the taco meat was incredibly dry, there was no dressing, there were olives on it (seriously, a taco salad with olives? are you kidding me?) and the edible shell bowl thing was apparently deep fried in the same oil that they cook fish in, because, ew, gross.

I ate the greenery and cherry tomatoes and picked at the meat and left the olives, cheese, and bowl.

I'm still quite hungry. But I paid too much for half a lunch, I can't really afford to shell out more for more kibble. Gonna be a loooooooong afternoon.

:(

I still have no idea what the hell a "taco salad" is and I'm Mexican.

Sadly you are probably in the 10% of those where just being told to use common sense would work instead of watching the videos. Seems kind of ridiculous that they wouldn't schedule you in knowing that you would be ready for at latest the second week of the next two weeks. Oh well, enjoy your pay and vacation!

They needed me to come in today to see photo ID and my SS card before I could actually start, I believe.
I saw the house you're buying, not sure about the neighborhood though. Looks rough!
th
A pretty bad sharknado came through the area a couple years back, and it hasn't fully recovered. You can see there re still multiple houses on their sides and roofs.
