Anna & Elsa "Coronation"

Question for you all:

If history is any guide, Anna and Elsa will soon be formally inducted into the Disney Royal Court or whatever it's called with the rest of the official Disney Princesses -- especially given how well the movie has done. That's fine with respect to Anna, she is a princess after all.

What do they do with Elsa, though? She's a queen, which obviously trumps mere princess status. Does she get knocked down a rung? Does she become the ruler of all Disney Princesses? Do they just have her join the court with everyone else as an equal but make no mention of the fact that she technically outranks all of them?

Kinda joking, but I am legitimately curious to see how they handle this little wrinkle...

Same as they handle Mulan and Pocahontas who aren't technically princesses at all. They never mention it.

Well, they can't "exactly" do this. They treat Mulan and Pocahontas as though they don't even exist anymore. That's more of a "who?" response. They can't do that with Elsa who is by-and-large as popular as (if not more so) than Anna.
They can do whatever they want, and they will. I do agree Mulan and Pocahantas are kind of forgotten, but at least they still have M & Gs in at WDW.

I don't know how they'll handle it, but this is an oddly interesting thread!

They still won't say anything about it. If anyone asks they'll probably just come out with something along the lines of that she shows the qualities of a Princess.

If they can make more money be making her a Princess they will. If they found out that somehow by putting Quasimodo in with the Princesses they'd make more money, I'd bet that they would.

Elsa and Anna were both princesses, they'll play up that fact. They throw a passing mention that Elsa became queen, but as others have mentioned, they'll spin the sucker to suit their needs if it helps them make more coin on merchandising. They have a whole marketing department that can write the thing out in no time.

In all reality, "Disney Princesses" are just a brand. Some are and some aren't actual princesses. The "fairy land story gals" are all members of the "Disney Princesses" club just as I call my daughter a princess without real meaning.

Rename it the Disney Royal Court and your done. Or, just recognize they''ll throw Anna in as a group that even they won't argue are not all princesses "by the definition of the word".

But, it would be fun if they'd actually acknowledge someone as a Queen.

I actually never knew this. Both of these movies predate our family's status as Disney freaks, and I always figured they were princesses. How about that!

The way that the princesses are at the moment is not necessarily how they are at the end of their films (eg, Rapunzel doesn't have short brown hair, Ariel has a tail/does not have a tail depending on location, the Beast is the Beast, not a human (and not a princess either))

So, given that I guess that they are both princesses/were a princess at some point (I have not yet seen Frozen), could they not just "hold" their coronations at the time of them being princesses?

Of course, having not seen the film, I have no idea whether they were both princesses at the same time, so have no idea whether it would cause some "time travel" issues for them both to meet together as princesses...

I'd love to see them at a coronation. I think it would be beautiful! Regarding the Elsa thoughts..I can assure you hands down she is insanely popular to the point that people are selling the Elsa dolls and shirts on ebay (this is why I haven't been able to find anything Elsa except a coffee mug!) for $50 upwards to over $100. I've been in the Disney Store 3 weeks in a row and nothing Elsa. As soon as it comes in..it sells out within the hour. It is insane! I honestly thought after seeing the movie (twice mind you) that Anna would have been the one every little girl had to have a piece of....as my Disney BFF pointed out - they made Elsa too beautiful, too real. The hair, her gown...the pain in her voice when she sings "Let It Go". Everyone connects with that song in one form or another hence the insane draw to Elsa. Me included. I have an Elsa coffee mug, cup, screen savers, photos, pre-ordered Frozen and have the lithographs displayed. Yes I'm an adult Elsa dork! Not afraid to admit it either. :D
